Boy, does this say it all.....

jimmiej, did you even read what I posted?

You're trolling, and this is way off topic now. So, you have a Merry Christmas.

So Liberals are anti Christian? Interesting take.

Do you know what the word "among" means?

Actually, I believe there is quite a bit of anti-Christmas (Christian) sentiment among the far left.

"America is the land of opportunity". Yes it is, especially if you are a WASP.

So why do we have successful people of color? If some can do it, why can't others? Quit making excuses and get busy making your life better.

"Among". Just an example of semantics because you can't say "all".

I have a great life, just as it is. Thanks for your concern. Happy Holidays.

You're putting words in my mouth. Never said "all", never meant "all." You're just upset because I disagree with you.

Wasn't speaking to you in particular. I have no idea your ethnicity or background. Just making a general statement to those who blame racism for their lack of production.

You DO realize that less than 75 years ago, racial discrimination was LEGAL in this country, right? Do you really think its effects are gone?

And to the original topic of this thread, I'm not going to waste my valuable time debating that post, I'm just going to say it was awfully mean, and leave it at that.

I'm not upset. We never agree on anything! Why should this be any different. I was just pointing out what I saw as an insinuation that if a person was left leaning, they were anti-Christian. You did say "quite a bit". To me, that means a goodly number. We'll leave the minority opportunities discussion for another day. Okay?

It must kill you to root for Vince Young. :rotfl2:

Wouldn't be the first time MzDiz.

I was responding to the poster who said they had never heard of such at all. Actually, I believe there is quite a bit of anti-Christmas (Christian) sentiment among the far left. But I have neither the time nor the inclination to try to prove it to you, so let's just leave it as my opinion.

There's quite a bit of racial hatred among the far right (especially in Horns country), so what's your point? A few incedents or individuals isn't a policy, or even a trend.

I doubt the folks on the right would like me to use you as an example to represent all of them.

But, it doesn't mean "all", does it?

Well I guess that depends on what you want to say.

If you want to say "I am a hate-mongering xenophobe with no understanding of our Constitutional freedoms", then by golly it does say it all!
::yes::

I've read this before, and it's infuriated me before. What ever happened to freedom of religion? Freedom of speech? Freedom of the press? THOSE are the things that make this country great. The entire principle this nation was built on was that people would have the freedom to express their views and live their lives free from persecution. The doors to the U.S. were open to anyone facing persecutions so they could enjoy these freedoms in peace. To say that if someone doesn't believe exactly the way you do should leave the country is the most ignorant thing I've heard come out of anyone's mouth. (you being a broad term)

You never said "all", but I still say I suspect you would have liked to if you could. Your serve, unless you have bigger fish you want to fry this evening. I'm just waiting for 2funny 2c to come out of hiding on the Daniel thread. Surprised you're not over there.

You make a lot of assumptions. You assume I'm a racist. What specifically have I said that makes me a racist? I've talked about minorities being successful. I feel like, if I can do it, so can anyone else. I'm not blind to racism. I know it still exists-but not even close to the degree it did 75 years ago. If a person wants to live the American Dream, it's there for the taking. There are many examples of successful minorities. What makes them different?

I came from a middle class family. Many of my schoolmates were from "rich" families. Their parents paid for their education easily. My parents scrimped and saved and paid for years after I was out of school. I paid for part of my education myself by working. I'm doing the same thing for my own children. Low-income families (and rich families) have an easier time getting a college education than middle class families.

My point is, the opportunity is there for anyone willing.

If you don't see it then maybe you need more help than anybody here can give you.

Okay Jimmie, what are you smokin tonight? Where did I call you a racist? Are you getting your posts mixed up?

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles.............
founded this nation..... and this is clearly documented.
It is certainly appropriate to display it
on the walls of our schools.
If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as
your new home.........because
God is part of our culture.
.

Maybe someone can confirm this for me...but wasn't our original National Motto---the one those "Christian men and women.......on Christian principles......." came up with E Pluribus Unum, "Out of many, one"?

And wasn't it changed as a McCarthyist Cold War tactic to distance ourselves from Communism? After Teddy Roosevelt shot down the idea of changing the secular motto to a religious one years before?

:confused3

I believe In God We Trust was adopted in the 1950's. Not sure of the exact date or year.
