eclectics said:So Liberals are anti Christian? Interesting take.
Actually, I believe there is quite a bit of anti-Christmas (Christian) sentiment among the far left.
eclectics said:"America is the land of opportunity". Yes it is, especially if you are a WASP.
jimmiej said:Do you know what the word "among" means?
So why do we have successful people of color? If some can do it, why can't others? Quit making excuses and get busy making your life better.
MzDiz said:You're trolling, and this is way off topic now. So, you have a Merry Christmas.

eclectics said:"Among". Just an example of semantics because you can't say "all".
eclectics said:I have a great life, just as it is. Thanks for your concern. Happy Holidays.
jimmiej said:Wasn't speaking to you in particular. I have no idea your ethnicity or background. Just making a general statement to those who blame racism for their lack of production.
jimmiej said:You're putting words in my mouth. Never said "all", never meant "all." You're just upset because I disagree with you.

jimmiej said:Trolling?!? You have 17 posts. I've been a DISer for almost six years! You need to get real!![]()
jimmiej said:I was responding to the poster who said they had never heard of such at all. Actually, I believe there is quite a bit of anti-Christmas (Christian) sentiment among the far left. But I have neither the time nor the inclination to try to prove it to you, so let's just leave it as my opinion.
eclectics said:I'm not upset. We never agree on anything! Why should this be any different. I was just pointing out what I saw as an insinuation that if a person was left leaning, they were anti-Christian. You did say "quite a bit". To me, that means a goodly number.
va32h said:Well I guess that depends on what you want to say.
If you want to say "I am a hate-mongering xenophobe with no understanding of our Constitutional freedoms", then by golly it does say it all!
jimmiej said:But, it doesn't mean "all", does it?
eclectics said:You never said "all", but I still say I suspect you would have liked to if you could. Your serve, unless you have bigger fish you want to fry this evening. I'm just waiting for 2funny 2c to come out of hiding on the Daniel thread. Surprised you're not over there.
jimmiej said:What specifically have I said that makes me a racist?
...
I feel like, if I can do it, so can anyone else.
jimmiej said:You make a lot of assumptions. You assume I'm a racist. What specifically have I said that makes me a racist? I've talked about minorities being successful. I feel like, if I can do it, so can anyone else. I'm not blind to racism. I know it still exists-but not even close to the degree it did 75 years ago. If a person wants to live the American Dream, it's there for the taking. There are many examples of successful minorities. What makes them different?
I came from a middle class family. Many of my schoolmates were from "rich" families. Their parents paid for their education easily. My parents scrimped and saved and paid for years after I was out of school. I paid for part of my education myself by working. I'm doing the same thing for my own children. Low-income families (and rich families) have an easier time getting a college education than middle class families.
My point is, the opportunity is there for anyone willing.
Disney1fan2002 said:"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles.............
founded this nation..... and this is clearly documented.
It is certainly appropriate to display it
on the walls of our schools.
If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as
your new home.........because
God is part of our culture.

BelleMcNally said:Maybe someone can confirm this for me...but wasn't our original National Motto---the one those "Christian men and women.......on Christian principles......." came up with E Pluribus Unum, "Out of many, one"?
And wasn't it changed as a McCarthyist Cold War tactic to distance ourselves from Communism? After Teddy Roosevelt shot down the idea of changing the secular motto to a religious one years before?
