Last minute help!!

Does any one know where we can buy boxed wine in downtown Vancouver? We're staying at the Sutton Place Vancouver on Burrard street, and we tried both London Drugs and Marketplace IGA with no luck at all (no wines period).

There is a Sutton Place wine merchant, but I believe they only sell bottled wines (which are a pain to carry).

Do grocery stores/larger markets carry boxed wines in Vancouver? If so...where! Help us out please...limited time today and getting on the ship tomorrow. Are there any grocery stores that deliver?

Thanks!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2Welcome to Canada :) You need to locate a Liquor Store. There must be one downtown. I would check with your Hotel front desk :cool1: Have a great time !!

The problem is that you cannot buy wine in grocery stores in BC. You can buy it at a government run liquor store or a private wine store (i.e. the Wine Merchant in Sutton Place).

There is a store on Robson (near Denham) which isn't too far from you.

This site might help:

There is also a Wine Merchant at 1289 Robson-about a 9 min walk from Sutton Place.
You could call and ask before you go-1289 Robson St, Vancouver, British Columbia, V6E 1C2
t/f: 604-633-1922

Hours of Operation:
Every day: 11am - 11pm

Is it the same in Alberta too? We too would like to bring a wine box onboard as they are so convenient. We will be touring BC and Alberta pre-cruise so would be able to pick one up over there if it is easier to do so.

Not sure about wine purchasing in Alberta. But, if you can wait, I suggest you purchase your wine in beautiful B.C.--it has a number of quite good wine producing areas.

Just remember, Canadian taxes on alcohol are enormous.

I replaced a 5 liter box of Franzia wine at my aunts in Saskatchewan and it cost $36 :scared1:at the Provincial liquor store. I got home and my paper had an ad from Rite Aid which had the same 5 liter box on sale for $7.99.

Absolutely-that's why we always buy at duty free before we come into Canada
