My understanding is that showing 2-6 inches of leg is appropriate for a 3-4 day sailing ... 6-12 inches of leg is appropriate for a 7 day cruise ... while 18" is appropriate for a TransAtlantic or Panama Canal cruise!

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS SUGGESTED FOR AN AROUND THE WORLD CRUISE!

(Actually, for many of us, 18 inches from the floor is still below the knee. :rotfl: And if we are counting only leg and not the foot we still are about at the knee.)
.

So AuntLynne, if I'm only showing a little bit of leg (2 - 6 inches), then can I get away with not wearing hose? :goodvibes

I also like having everything ready when I check in. Heck, I already have my camera out of its bag, my toiletries out and my shoes off by the time I get to the airport scanner. After all this time, I don't get why people wait until they are ready to send their stuff into the scanner to realize - "oh, I have to ......" and hold up the line. I know it's different with families though as they have themselves and the kids to deal with.

Kristi

- Can you get away with not wearing hose? Arctic white or "flesh" color? I was really wondering if you were wearing a long dress or one closer to knee length? When you are sitting at the table, it's your top that matters; when you take a picture with the Characters, that's when leg color can throw off the lighting - too much glare reflecting. I won't have any hose with me; can't remember when last I wore them. In the last 2+ years, I seem to have only worn dresses when I'm in a tropical locale, so it's sandals or summery shoes.

- I'm with you on the airline security line. I have shoes, coat off, CPAP machine in hand - all before I get to the first (ID) check. And then glare at all the people who start the process when they get to the buckets. Even in expert traveler line. However, there doesn't seem to be a lull in the x-ray machine and I take note of that and realize the passengers probably aren't slowing down the line, anyway. It's the workers! Okay, passengers, you are forgiven, again.

...Lynne what is the embark debark form you have mentioned? ...didnt see that online (I think)

Does anyone else NOT have their cruise docs? I feel like the last one ( or am I just impatient :))

If you had your cruise docs, you would see it on page 31. It's title is "Embark-Departure Form." Online, it's the info you give them about which airline you are flying and the emergency contact you have listed on your passport # page.

You and Adrienne are the last to receive your docs from DCL (for the entire ship) - I called Disney to verify this and they said it had to do with the provisions of your bail. :sad2:

Mine was made for me right after I signed up on the DISBoard about 8 years ago by someone on the board. Unfortunately I have no idea who it was :sad2: or how they did it. :guilty: It has been in my signature all this time.
.
I have been admiring it probably that long. I have seen your posts on several Threads over the years and was hoping you had made it.
Thanks :)
.

Joius, we don't have our docs either, so I am having serious document-envy. But I have started the (long) packing process and my FE gifts are done and packed. They take up half of a suitcase, but I figure that gives me room for stuff to come home. <g>

-- Adrienne : )

Phew... glad to hear I am not alone :goodvibes I am packing an extra (very old) small suitcase for all of my FE stuff that I will donate to the crew on my departure. I have only began a "pile" to be packed...

Brack... I found a nice gently worn Tuxedo jacket for formal nights for my son at the "Salvation Boutique" this weekend... a seriously good score!

But...... I am Innocent! Innocent I tell ya!

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the Back Street Boys were going to be entertaining us on the cruise, joining up with the ship in Europe somewhere. Does anyone else remember reading this, and is this true? Also, does anyone know which movies are playing on the Magic?

Nooooo. But the BLACK Street Boys (Alfred & Seymor) are supposed to be joining us in Gibralter according to their web-site.

.

Good morning everyone...this is our first post on the TA page. I just joined the forum the other day and posted a couple of times on the med cruise. I have two cabins for this cruise; my dw and I in one and our Preacher and his wife in the other.

YOU BRING YOU OWN PREACHER?!!!
You must be some serious sinners. Be warned, my first husband was a minister..You're on your own, bud. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

But seriously WELCOME!!

I bought some of the tide pouches, but it didn't mention that it was for HE machines. Aren't the machines on the Magic HE? If so, do I put in half the pouch? I'd hate to flood the laundry room with soap bubbles.

Bubble bath across the Atlantic:thumbsup2

Well that's cool. Last I'd heard someone had called DCL and they said Alice would be in 2D.

Very odd since both theaters have 3D equipment!

Yes, the washers on the ship are HE. I don't know for sure, but I've read that you use 1/2 the detergent of a normal machine.

Sorry if the legwear police will be on the ship. I'll be bare legged with sandals whether it is formal night or cruise casual night. Sorry if that offends...no, I'm really not sorry. Comfort outranks beauty.

DD returned to the dorm today. Her taxes are done--reaction "ALL THAT FOR $35!"

Guess that ends my excuses for not packing. It's cold and rainy here...guess I'll get to it tomorrow. I did shop a little last week but the pants didn't fit right and there was nothing else I liked/needed. I'm ready for warm.

OH...and the BLACK street boys are not the same as the BACK street boys. Groan...them again....

Is it wrong that I actually enjoy saying, "I'm getting ready to go out of the country and I'm not scheduling anything until after I return?"

Actually, I haven't gotten my docs yet either. I know they exist as my TA sent them a week ago.
I'm hoping CC will help with the "flesh" color of my lower legs as I only wear longer type dresses. the 6 inch scar on my knee just isn't "pretty" with anything other than shorts. :rotfl:

Kristi

I received a letter from DCL, "Helpful Hints for Your Trans-Atlantic Voyage."
Anyone else get one?

One of the topics is foreign currency exchange. It says there is a currency exchange widow at the cruise terminal at Port of Barcelona. Currency exchange is also available on board at Guest Services.

Yup, got that, Woody. Also got the "notification dates" for our next 2 cruises as well as a "so glad we'll be seeing you again" card for our 2011 cruise. Must be mass mailing time at DCL!

Yep I got that on Saturday. I thought it was nice of them.

Welcome Jsassy!

I don't have my cruise docs yet, and I remained totally jail-free all week-end. Truly. My TA said that she received them on last Thurs, so I should get them soon....

Joi, I think it's providential for you that there will be so many ordained ministers surrounding you on this trip - maybe it's time to take stock of your life and determine if you really want to spend the rest of it incarcerated....

Oh, you mean it was Donna!?!

Woody

No it wasn't me (Donna) I have a hard time keeping up with all the posts so I will rely on you guys to keep me posted on my DH stirring of the pot. :woohoo:

Thanks!

I'm glad that you had one weekend that was totally jail-free.

Wasn't Joi the one with the story about the rabbi, the preacher, and the lawyer?

Are 14 nights on this cruise going to feel like a prison sentence? Especially since we can't travel farther than 964 feet, eat in large rooms with rowdy crowds, and return to sleep in our little rooms?
