Bound for Barcelona - April 10, 2010 EB TA - Part 4

Do you think that means they will drop it off at my airline? Surely, it won't necessarily be on the same bus as me since we have to put them out the night before. So, I won't be able to find it when I get off the bus. They would have to have a central place for everyone to go to find their luggage. What do you think? Anyone who had DCL air in 2007 remember?

Hi stlkeeler:

We had DCL air on the 2007 EBTA - luggage was put out the night before and after disembarking the ship we picked up our luggage inside the terminal. We took our luggage, exited the terminal and were directed to the bus for the airport. It was a bit sad that day as our vacation had come to an end. Thanks.

I hadn't realised they had rescheduled the discovery launch to 5th April.:cool1: We fly into MCO on the 3rd so I am now tying to research how to watch the launch. Does anyone have any ideas?? I am looking at hiring a car and driving somewhere nearby. The trip with Greyhound to the causeway picks you up at WDW around 11pm on the 4th for the approx 6am launch on the 5th with DD11 and DS 7 this will not work.:scared1:

I'm sorry to hear that, Martin. I was trying to rationalize to myself how it makes sense to have them checked in to fly directly home without us having to lug them to the airport. :rolleyes1 I'm one of those whose flight leaves at 1000. I hate to think I have to be up and out around 0600. :headache:

Linda, for security purposes on international flights you would not be allowed to do that. To many opportunities for abuse. Airport security also wants to see you with your luggage to make sure all baggage is accounted for and no one looks nervous or jumpy when handling their own luggage.

Israeli security, btw, is especially good at body language reading and has trained other airport personnel around the world in such observations. I will cut off this train of thought here or there will be another war starting on this thread.

BUNCO Status

For those planning out their Sea Day activities, here's where we are with BUNCO and Group Lunch (last sea day).

Steven Long directed me to the contact person for group space planning. I've given her our request for a space to hold the 40-person BUNCO game in the afternoon (around 1:00 pm) and warned her that it could be a noisy activity with all the dice rolling and people moving tables. I said Sea Day 4 or 5 or so, but not to conflict with a Ducky Williams presentation or anything of that magnitude.

For the Group Lunch, I requested Noon on April 22 in Parrot Cay.

We started this communication Friday, so I expect to hear back next week sometime.

I deleted the list of upgrades from the website, and just realized it had info on who was willing to open their cabins for tours. And if we get enough volunteers, perhaps we can utilize 2 cabins per category to keep the traffic down. ?

Who's up for opening your cabin?

Thoughts about whether just before lunch or just after or mid-afternoon, perhaps about Sea Day 3?

I am still willing to include our room - Cat. 5 - 7538

It's great to get new folks so close to sailing. Can only imagine how excited things must be at your house.

OK....did some serious organization/packing last night after looking really closely at all the average temp highs/lows. I'm the one that posted the temps a long time ago.

It looks like, in practically terms, we'll be spending most of our "active" time in the 60-80 degree range (includes average highs in most of our ports). Yes, these are just averages...and yes we'll see dips into the 50's during mornings and evenings. Those sea days are still a bit of a mystery!

At any rate, what does this mean for us (well, me)? It means I'm going for most capris and short sleeves for casual cruise days with a sweater to throw over them in the chillier weather. I'll also toss in one pair of long pants, a few 3/4 length shirts, one long sleeve shirt, a jacket, and maybe a light sweatshirt.

We've had 50's and 60's in Ohio (with rain) for the last few days and I've definitely not wanted long-sleeve shirts. I was wearing capris in my house, but wore regular jeans out and about (but mostly because I didn't want to look silly). I would probably have been happy in capris.

I've got the kids mostly packed. Just have to think through formal wear, dinner clothing, and shoes for them.

Also, I believe upon disembarkation, we have to go through passport control and customs.

That's when you declare you're not bringing in prohibited items.

Me, too! Tomorrow is finally here! Now I can go with everyone! I didn't get anything extra. What did you get?

SPOILER ALERT! If you haven't yet received your docs don't read the section below. Just in case...

In our package we received a silver "tone" Mickey watch and a Disney's Greatest Hits Vol. 2 CD. Fun, no? With more consideration, I am sure this was a gift from our thoughtful TA (PM me if you want her name) although she didn't include a note.

I am not an expert and you could probably find some good info via Google but... When we visited last year we learned that there was going to be a night launch the first evening we arrived. We just took our rental car and drove down toward Cape Canaveral. We literally pulled over on the highway in Coco Beach and had a great view. Basically, just follow the crowd. Good luck!

I have watched a launch and a landing right from the lot at Kennedy before. Being a weekday and a resched it may not be all that crowded and you'll have a great view. I wish we were going that early. It's an awesome thing to see that close up!!
Hmmm maybe they can push back to the 9th.

Looks like the time was changed to 10:35AM. Same flight
Karen

You're right! I was just looking at the paperwork from my TA. My cruise documents have the updated time of 10:35. I did look up my seating last week and changed that around for each of my flights.

I wasn't very happy with a flight out of New Orleans the morning before the cruise at 6AM since it takes about an hour to get to the airport from my house. I was reluctant to ask anyone to bring us to the airport since we would have to leave home around 3:30 in the morning. We decided to Priceline an airport hotel instead, so now my kids will drive us there the night before and we'll catch an airport shuttle.

Since Disney doesn't book with Southwest, the only airline that flies direct to Orlando from New Orleans, we are flying to Miami first. This will result in almost 3 hours flying compared to 1 1/2 hours flying direct. I know I could have requested a change but wasn't willing to deal with the hassle. There's probably not a lot of other options anyway. I'm just going to go with the flow. :goodvibes

Then we'll meet up with my parents at the Orlando airport, check in at Pop Century and head out to Epcot for the day. We all have a 1 day park pass left over from a 2001 trip. Will we need to have anything done to those tickets before trying to enter the park? I remember having to upgrade my son's ticket a few years ago, but he had gone from a child ticket to an adult ticket.

Lori

Nobody answered this question and I am curious also - what is the earliest time that the DCL busses leave the airport for the cruise terminal?

TIA!
