I have heard a lot about people getting various bounceback offers, but am very confused on the specifics of what they are and how to get them? For example, I have heard that people often get discounts and/or upgrades to their rooms and free meal plans. How does this work? Who do we ask about these offers and when? My family of five is staying at AKV in June and are very interested in getting this perk if possible. Any help anyone could give us would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Bounceback offers are offers from Disney to book a return trip before you check out of the hotel on your current trip at a discounted price. The discounts are only for specific dates - dates Disney wants to fill up hotels, so usually lower occupancy times. If one is going on while you are there, there should be a flyer in your room, or you might see it on the resort TV station.

Other codes that people talk about are received randomly from Disney. Sign up for Disney mailing lists, order the vacation planning DVD, make sure you have a login on the WDW website, etc. Some people get e-mails, some get postcards, some never get anything.

And then of course, there are AAA discounts for AAA members, room discounts for Annual Passholders, free dining. All offered by Disney at particular times of the year at their discretion.

Bounceback can mean either a discount on room only prices or a discount or free standard dining packages. I can't address the dining package.
As posted in December 2007, the 2008 bounceback dates were:
1/6 to 2/2/08
2/24 to 3/1/08
3/30 to 4/12/08
8/10 to 9/27/08
These dates applied to deluxe resorts. If rooms were available, you could book a room and receive 30 percent off the regular rate for these dates. (Deluxe Villa dates were roughly the same but the offer for them was 40% off.) The Moderates may also be included (but they were not listed on the computer.) I do not recall whether value resorts are included in the room bounceback offers.
The instructions say you must book before you checkout but modifications can be made (subject to availability) after you return home. You simply need to make the standard deposit for a room only reservation.

The above is based on information I aquired in December '07 and January 08. You should consult http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1783571 (post 13) for information on November and December bounceback dates.

The latest dates on the in-room flyers are 8/10-9/27/08, 10/19-11/1/08, 11/9-11/15/08 and 11/30-12/13/08. When we dialed the special # from our room, we were connected to the "future stay" offer! I guess they like that name better than bounce back! :)

If you watch the Resort TV in your room, you'll see a screen sometimes that says, "Call #XXXX for a hot deal!" and if you call, you get the "future stay department." You need to be a registered guest to get the deal, though, so call before you check out.

Not everyone gets the flyers in their rooms; we didn't last Sept when we were there for "free dining," but saw the promo on Resort TV, plus I already knew about from the DIS. We called and got the free dining bounceback for this Sept.

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but are these the dates that you book your return trip for, or is it if you are a guest during these dates you will be eligible for a bounceback offer for another trip?

Those are the dates within which you must book your "bounceback" trip.

:thumbsup2 Same experience for me. You can bet that this time Im going to tune in to the resort TV again(hoping for another bounceback for next year):cool1:

A lot of people don't get the flyer. For example, the CR put it on the guest webpage (remember the CR has terminals in each room).

Whether or not you get a flyer or see the offer on TV, it is advisable to ask about it at the front desk or over the phone. The worst they can do is say "no."

I assume you have to put a deposit down for 1 night for the future trip right? Is it refundable if you change your mind?

Yes. One night's deposit is required. The normal cancellation policy applies (unless that has changed since January 2008). I booked mine and then changed the dates - no problem - but once you get within the cancellation period you can't change it (without paying a lot of $$).

FYI Just don't add the insurance to it until you are sure as if you cancel you don't get back the deposit.:)

I should follow up and say that the cancellation policy has changed since January 2008. It may require cancellation of bounceback reservations 45 days before rather than 6 days before.
