Thanks for the explanation. I've never purchased or rented points (I don't even borrow). Never knew about things like 'walking' etc - I go 4 times a year, and always had enough points to cover what I need, so I've always been a pretty simple DVC user all these years. I never thought about a situation like that where a person can't go and will otherwise lose the points - and that makes great sense for the discount...not as enamored with the commercial rental type situation, but I accept I'm a bit old fashioned. I don't like when I hear people doing the 'walking' nor booking multiple dinner reservations at the same time and just canceling later...all legal, but just not something I would do and kind of wish that type of thing wasn't common. Again, old fashioned!
I do know about the GF boat and have used it often...I'll generally take it over the monorail when available. If I'm at MK and want to pop over to Trader Sam's I'll go by boat too.
