BOULDER RIDGE VILLAS & COPPER CREEK VILLAS & CABINS: Wilderness Lodge DVC Expansion Thread

I have a cash reservation for a Studio in the Villas. Wonder if I'll get a call or just an email/letter? Check in 11/26.

We're currently schedule to stay at the WL Villas 1/31/2016-2/8 and I'm really concerned about the construction. As this is our first, and likely only, Disney trip (at least for a long time), we spent a lot of time trying to figure out the ideal place for the family (4 and 8 year old kids). We bought points through a DVC member who has offered to look at other options if we want.
I'd be curious to hear opinions from others? A lot of construction doesn't sound fun, and I'm really bummed about the beach and firepits (one of the things which drew us there).

I am in the UK and due to stay from the 28th Oct for 11 nights, I haven't had an email but booked with a third party (Virgin Holidays UK), Has anyone had any support from third party sales.

I would switch. You may be asked to switch anyway. It sounds like they are moving VWL guests and are going to start to move WL guests as well (those who booked through consumer and groups). Poly might be a nice alternative for you. BC also has a nice "beach" area.

Don't forget Poly is also having major construction on the east pool. And lots of rooms face it.

We are also using the aforementioned travel agency and the discount. Our TA has been very receptive and upfront with doing anything she *can* do for us. They are, of course, limited due to the already steep discount. But our TA had been very proactive for us. Considering how many emails I've flooded the poor woman with, I can only imagine how many more she's gotten from all her clients. Ugh, guests aren't the only ones being negatively affected by Disney's unwillingness to share information. Up to and including Disney's own front line employees.

I just received an email from my TA. She said WL is requesting for all under the group rate to move to another resort. Our only deluxe choice to stay at the same rate is the Boardwalk. I have no desire to stay there. At an added price we can choose Poly or BC. It's at a substantial rate increase. My husband is livid. He only wants to stay at WL during the holidays. My TA said she has emailed WL that we have no desire to move, but she doesn't think it will help. I guess this is the price you have to pay for being at such a discounted rate. I have no clue what we're going to do.

I'm booked with them, too and it's also my very first use of a TA. I couldn't pass up 55% off rack rate! They purchase blocks of rooms at a group rate so they actually "own" the rooms, but bookings fall under Disney cancelation rules.

That's correct. The agency buys up blocks of rooms through "Disney Group Sales" and resells them, so they actually "own" the rooms, which means they run the risk of holding potentially un-booked rooms.

KOOK, thank you so much for this explanation as I truly did not know what I reserving with the agency and your explanation makes perfect sense and as always you are awesome. I will say that as frustrated as I got it was not my TA's fault and I would not hesitate to book with them again. Everything is a learning experience. Just need to decide now what is right for us with this situation. I hope everything works out for everyone.

Are you under the "magical" deal? I am following this for future reference since I am happy with my deal and my TA. But information is knowledge! Maybe WL could accommodate you with a rate difference? Certainly hoping this becomes more "magical" for you!

Yep! Magical deal for us. I understand why they are having to change us and I actually wouldn't mind moving..my dh is the one not budging. Still hoping they will let us stay, but it doesn't look like it.

Just got a call from our TA, and she said that Disney called them and that they will actually be closing rooms down at WL:eek: On the bright side, Disney told the TA that they will switch all their WL customers to GF-LV at no extra charge. DW is not super excited about the move, she was really looking forward to our 1st stay at WL with the Christmas decorations.

Is your travel agency the "magical" one? I'm kind of wishing we never used the agency. WE'd move to the GF in a second. Only Boardwalk was offered to us.

Yes it is. It may have something to do with when the people vacations are. We are going Thanksgiving week.

Could be. We will be there the week of Christmas, so I'm sure that's why we get the Boardwalk. Nevertheless, I'm checking with my TA just to be sure!

Wow, closing rooms down - interesting. Glad we will be enjoying FALL decor instead at the BEGINNING of this little project. Gee, maybe I will research a cruise for next year's trip.

Goodness gracious, how bad is this construction expected to be if they are actively moving guests away from the main lodge, away from where the construction is supposed to take place?

also thanksgiving week with the 'magical' deal. offered the change to GF-LV as well. Although I was looking forward to WL, I am excited to stay at GF!

Yes, the Ta I spoke to said the grand was offered for the thanksgiving time frame and the boardwalk was the Christmas time frame. It was based on availability.

Yes, not only moving guests, but moving lots of them! For heaven's sake, people, if WDW is offering you an upgrade (GF, BC or BWI) at a deep discount, take it! I know it may not seem ideal as WL is beautiful at Christmas, but if they are moving people, it sounds like it's not going to be so great this year! Something is going on in that main building that is going to impact guests, it seems, in a big way.
