We stayed in the newly renovated 2 bedroom not a lock off. @ Boulder Ridge villas in May 2023. We liked it so much that we added on a resale contract for BRV.

I had Boulder Ridge 2 br. lock-off booked for May 2024 but my dates became available for Boardwalk and so I modified to Boardwalk.

Hopefully, the renovations will be complete at Boardwalk.

What would you choose?

Speaking as a long-time DVC owner and ignoring that BWV is our home resort, I’d keep the BWV reservation as somewhere different to stay instead of repeating the same resort. And also we usually spend more time at Epcot and DHS than at MK and enjoy having the choice of walk, boat or Skyliner around “our” part of the World.

Depending on how long your stay is, you might want to do a split stay. Do a couple of nights at BRV and then move the rest of the trip to BWV. Then you can do MK while you are at BRV and EP and HS while you are at BWV. It helps eliminate some of the need to take buses. :) This is the approach we usually use. We then go to AK on our move day.

But keeping the whole stay at BWV is an excellent choice as well. :)

Boardwalk doesn't do much for me. To me, the only real value is in its location, and eventually, that gets old too. You'll notice, about 75% of the time, location is the first reason people give for owning/staying there. I like that Wilderness Lodge could be sitting on a coniferous forest lake just about anywhere else on the planet, and it would still be an amazingly relaxing and beautiful spot to stay. But, it's not. It's still in WDW. and a 5-minute boat ride away from MK and the Monorail.

5 nights - but there is no way I would do a split stay with 5 children---eeek
We have stayed at the Boardwalk in the past, but no children. We will visit MK but their favorite park is HS-Toy Story Land.

Thanks for your vote/reply. I think I just need to stop second guessing the move from BRV to BWV and hope the rooms are all refurbished by the time we arrive :)

The BWV refurbishment has already begun, with the entire BW view wing closed off now into November. Standard views are blocked off January to March. P/G views will be worked on during those time frames. So by May the entire resort should be finished, or any villas not completed will be in progress, as long as no delays pop up. IOW, your chances of getting a refurbished villa are close to 100%.

By May, the BWV room refurbs are likely be finished (or, if not, there will only be a small number of rooms left to be done, which will be unavailable for use, meaning you should get a refurbed room).

The BWV rooms are close to the same size as BRV, and both (except a small number of studios at BRV) have the extra Murphy bed in the studio that pulls out of a cabinet. All BWV 2BRs are lock-offs.

As mentioned above "location" is a major factor for choosing BWV, but that means far more than just being able to walk (or take a boat) to Epcot and Studios. It sits on a decent-size lake and from the boardwalk (and boardwalk view rooms) views are fantastic looking across the lake at Swan/Dolphin and YC/BC, seeing the huge Epcot golf ball in the distance and being able to see upper level fireworks at Epcot at night, and also in the distance MK fireworks. The boardwalk itself has stores and restaurants, a dance hall (Atlantic City), a large bar with dueling pianos (Jellyrolls) , evening entertainment on the boardwalk and you can rent surrey bikes for a trip around the lake. Moreover, you are within walking distance of a huge number of restaurants at Boardwalk, YC, BC, Swan, Dolphin, and Epcot (you enter Epcot at the World Showcase entrance; walks to Studios are longer).

Would depend on which of those two contracts we own has enough points lol

i decided to keep it at the Boardwalk. I do love walking to Epcot and if we get a view of Spaceship Earth that would be great.

we have stayed at Boardwalk using our points from AKV several times but it has only been DH and I in a studio. This time, we are in a 2br with our grandchildren.

My “welcome home” booking was at Beach Club villas but we don’t own there and if we were lucky enough to get a 2br lock off there, I would not second guess myself!!

We have stayed at both and enjoyed both. However,, for us BWV wins as there are 2 parks in walking distance. Wilderness, 3 parks are a bus ride and 1 is boat or bus. However, it is beautiful.
