Bought wrong passes!!

I bought 14 day Ultimate pases for £153 each from theme parks tickets direct for our trip at the start of May. I was really pleased with the price and service.

Then on Saturday we booked a trip for next April because we realised we can travel during DD's spring break very cheaply (for a school holiday.) I don't know if it is the same everywhere but she wont get 2 weeks off for Easter next year. It is Spring break instead. Works out a lot cheaper than most school holidays.

So we are going May 07
Late March/ early April 08
August 08
Not sure 2009????? April and or August depending on school hols.....

I can get DVC discount on Annual passes but i did not buy one as if you are going once it is still cheaper to buy the Premium pass. If I had known we were going next April I could have got the APs, got a DDE card to save 20% on dining plus 10% off at World Of Disney.

I will definitely get it for next year, but if we go April 09 I will need a new one again!

Does any of this make sense?

I dont suppose i can upgrade a 14 day Ultimate pass at WDW can I?

I have heard that I can upgrade my MYW ticket to an AP or PAP and get full credit for the original purchase price even after I have used a few days admission. Is this true?

Yes it is. If you decide that you want to upgrade it to an AP/PAP, you will get full credit for the price of the ticket towards the AP/PAP. Expiring MYW tickets must be upgraded within 14 days of first use. MYW tickets with the no expiration option on them can me upgraded at any time. In all cases, the AP/PAP will be backdated to the date the hopper pass was first used. Tickets purchased prior to MYW tickets can still be upgraded but must be completely unused to do so. But beware: If you get a MYW ticket with the Water Park Fun & More option and use one of the WPF&M admissions before doing this, you will only be allowed to upgrade to a PAP.

What if I decide I want to change to a PAP after I already used my AP?

You can do this. It will be handled just like any other pass upgrade. There was a time that you could upgrade your AP to a PAP simply by paying the prorated difference on the remaining time of your AP but no more. Disney will no longer pro-rate an AP for this. If you want to upgrade an AP to a PAP now you will be charged the full price difference between the two for whatever time you have remaining on the AP.

Thanks Claire for the info. i appreciate it. Not sure that they are able to do this with the 14 day Ultimate ticket though as it is a UK only ticket. I tried to phone last night but could not get a straight answer. Might try to email.

I have to say that I didn't think you could upgrade the ultimate tickets as they are for UK holidaymakers only. Will be interested to find out the definitive answer though.

I dont know either give them another call speak to customer service or tickets and reservations as WDW. Make sure they know exactly what you want. If not have you tried to get your money back on the ticket? Where did you purchase them from? Have you got your ticket in your hands now? If not I cant see why you cant get a refund. If not see if you can sell them on. I am sure that someone is going soon and will want these tix. Speak to Deb UK, Alan, Mandymouse, KayleeUK and see if you are allowed to post a thread to see if you can offer them up for sale. Fingers crossed for you. Keep us posted

Thanks everyone. I have emailed WDW to see if i can upgrade the tickets once i arrive. I doubt it is possible and if I cannot it doesn't matter. We leave in 10 days so there is no time to wait on a PAP voucher to arrive. I know I can try to do it when I get there but i wanted to order the DDE card. For that you need an AP voucher. To complicate matters we will be at Vero first and you cannot upgrade passes there only at DTD or the parks.

If i had known we were going in March 08 i would have bought PAPs and a DDE card well in advance. The DDE is good for 20% off meals at Vero too.

Anyway, we are going twice next year so if i cannot upgrade at WDW to the DVC discount PAP we will just use the Ultimate Passes I have and buy PAPS for our trips next year (March and August).

Virgin Holidays were sold out for our dates and some other companies did not have seats yet.

We booked with Thomson Tailor Made 0870 403 0650. Maybe they are selling the seats on pre-allocation?

We booked 13 nights from 29 March so we arrive home on the Saturday ready for DD to go to school (and DH work) on Monday. Some friends of ours got 5 April for 14 nights. We paid just under 2 grand for 2 adults, 1 child, 1 infant in seat, 7 seater car and fully inclusive car ins.

Thanks for the info, i've still got to talk DH into it yet lol.
We are going in september this year as i didnt want school holiday crowds and prices, but i know i wont be able to take DS out of school again next year.
We are the same as you, 2 adults, 1 child and 1 infant although i haven't paid for a seat for the baby. I think i must have got a bargain this year as we have paid £2500 for 2 weeks at POP with unlimited passes and free dining plan and also un upgrade to premium on the flight and mini van with fully inclusive ins.
Not sure whether to go in april or wait and see if they offer dining plan again and go in august.

Hi everyone. OP here.

WDW replied to my email. They wont upgrade the 14 day Ultimate ticket. I think we will sell them to our neighbour who is also going next month and buy DVC PAPS once we arrive at WDW. No time to order online and get them sent now. I will try to get a DDE too and have it faxed to Epcot for me to collect. It means i will miss using the DDE for the first three nights at Vero as I won't have my PAP voucher until we reach WDW but that wont matter. We will get to use the PAPs for 2 trips which is great.
