I just bought a used Jayco pop up. It has one of those little cassette toilet/shower combos which was something I was knew I really wanted.

The best part about it: I only paid $1400 for it. I'll get some pictures posted before I start redoing it. It has solid floors, all new cables and pulleys, and no leaks, but it has some really ugly hail damage on the top.

It definitely needs a new canvas, but I ordered that yesterday. The tires show signs of dry rotting so those will need to be replaced also. It also has a lot of busted light covers on the outside of it. There is also one access door that has a chunk missing out of the edge that holds the door shut. I'll need to get a new piece of trim to fix that.

I'm really looking forward to redoing it and getting back to camping!

Sounds like a little love and care project for you, congrats on your purchase, :thumbsup2

So, when are you hitt'n the Fort ?

Congratulations! A little money and some sweat equity and you will have yourself a very nice pup!

Congrats! Can't wait to see the before and after pics!

I'm itching to get back to the Fort as soon as possible. My daughter really wants to see the Christmas lights (not that I would mind :rolleyes1 ) so we might have to work out a Christmas trip for just the two of us. :cloud9:

It is definitely my love and care project. I was heartbroken when the tent that I had for ten years finally fell apart. Of course, my hubby is thrilled to finally camp without sleeping on the ground. He's not getting any younger and he says it was really starting to get to him (of course, I'm eternally youthful, LOL!)

I just can't wait to take it camping. Going to the store this weekend to get bondo for the hail damage, paint for touch ups, sealant to cover the bondo, etc, etc. Ordering some diamond plate to trim it out.

I'm just at a loss for what to do with the stove top (the oven looks like it's never been cooked in). It has some surface rust/crud that needs to come off. I have never refinished appliances before. Hope it's not too hard to buff it down and redo it. Just hoping there is a way that I can keep the steel finish on it.

This sounds great, and I think the price sounds even greater! Can't wait to see some before and afters. Ohh, and WDW at Christmas is great! Sounds like a perfect little getaway!

Thanks 3girlsfun! Being from Arkansas, it's been a really long time since I got to see the Osbourne family's Christmas lights. Plus, it will be nice to see the Fort all decorated.

I just can't wait for the new canvas to get here or for the rain to stop. It's rained here everyday since I got the camper. With the canvas being in such bad shape, I'm afraid to open it up just yet since I don't have a covered place to do so. Once I get some dry weather, I'll be able to take some pics.

Lorac,

Congrats! It's a great feeling to move up (literally) off the ground from tent camping to a pup. Our pup is 6 years old but we still love it. Problem is with us as the kids get older, the schedule gets more crowded and it's tough to find a time to use it.

I'd love to see the rehab-in-progress pictures when you post them.

Good luck to you!

Is that a JayCardinal? We used to have an older JayCardinal, like 1977 or so. It was a great pop up for us. It was huge! It didn't have the toilet setup though. It had a 2 dinettes , one at each end. Worked for us. We did have the shower/toilet in our Viking but never used it that way. hahaha
You'll have a great time with the pup. I went into our old Viking my daughter has now and I miss it. Still feels like camping, but more comfy. But alas, we're getting older and like the comforts of home too much. Besides, full-timing in a pup just wouldn't cut it for us....lol.

You guessed it! It is a 1989 Jayco Cardinal 6. My kids have already staked out "their" beds, lol!

You are right. It would be rough full timing it in a pup, but it's perfect for us. I can't wait to take it camping!

That is a big pup. Looks nice, and can't wait to see what you do with it.

That's an interesting A/C configuration. I'm used to seeing them on the roof. Is that an aftermarket installation?

Just noticed you're going to be at the Fort the same time we are planning on being there. Might have to look for you and bring back memories.

Thank you all. The air conditioner is an after market install. DH and I were talking about putting in a roof unit though. It depends on if I can find one cheap enough. If not, we'll be replacing the unit with a better air conditioner. That one works but it's seen better days. I'd like to have one with a thermostat control.

It's going to be a project.

This is one impressive Pup! I love it! We looked at a brand new Pup, and I had no idea they made them this big!

I can't wait to see the pictures of the work in progress. This is going to be great entertainment.

That is an interesting AC unit, I hope you are able to find a new one for cheap!

Be sure the roof if properly braced for "roof air" or you could have major problems. If your going to do that I would contact JAYCO with the serial number and ask.
