So Im not hyper nuts about pin trading, but my kids are. My daughter trades for anything that sparkles. :thumbsup2

Last year was our 1st time doing it and one of the CMs gave her a pin and he told me was worth about $100, so she wouldn't trade it. The CMs had the green lanyards. So I guess people had been trying to get that pin from them all day, but it had to go to a kid?

Anyway, I just bought a bunch of assorted pins for the kids to trade this trip. Since they were just a mixed lot, I know nothing about the value of any of them. A few are limited editions, some are Cast only, and then I have no idea about the rest.

Is there a picture directory where I could look to see what the pins are worth? I don't know how to look these up.

I also over-purchased and was going to dump the ones my kids dont want on eBay...so I need to know what they are worth. I scanned this thread and didnt see anything. Got any ways to search for pins?

I see one is from the Spectale of Pins 2005 - but many dont have any markings. Whats the easiest way to look them up?

Thanks for your help!

I'm no expert but try PinPics or Dizpins .com they seem to have a lot of info about pins.

I think I found several of them. That was a good deal - I got 25 (of which 10 were Cast or LE) for about $75.00. I thought that was better than buying them in the park, since the kids just want to trade them anyway.

It did make me wonder why the CM told me that pin was worth something. I can't even find it on those sites. I found the rest...

Any ideas? Do the CMs know which pins are worth what? Or your think they were a little off base. Although that would be WAY off base. Just goes to show I dont know what Im doing!!!

Thanks for your help

Some of the CMs are really very knowlegable. Some of them aren't. Best to take anything they say in that regard with a grain of salt, until you find out differently from another source.

Could you describe the pin? Who is on it, any text, etc? If you are unable to provide a pic, that is. I'll help look on pinpics.

It has Mickey on it and says SpectroMagic across the front. Mickey is wearing a yellow jacket. Pin is marked 2005 Cast. Any ideas? I found a similar one with Mickey in a black jacket...but not this pin. The colors are off from the ones I found - the jacket and the background colors are different. Any ideas? Thanks for offering to look.

Yes, well, the CM's do give out interesting information, on occasion. One told my husband that the rabbit pin from the pooh set was worth a lot...and my dear sweet husband became obsessed with them. We now have 19. They might be worth $3 but probably less, and aside from a brief thought of selling my whole collection awhile back, the worth doesn't matter diddly-squat! I just really wish that he had traded for an assortment...no one needs 19 rabbits.

That is too funny! Well, ya know, you start off with 2 rabbits and end up with 19 in no time...

I agree with FigNewton, sounds like the Spectromagic Mickey cast lanyard. If you check the pic at that link & yours looks different, maybe it's one of these...

To get an idea of the tradeability/worth of your pin, take a look at the "Members Trading" & "Members Wanting" sections of the pin's PinPics page. If your pin is the one FigNewton's mentioned, there are 281/Members Trading and only *43*/Members Wanting.
So, I doubt it's actually worth $100...
Also, do a search on Ebay, see if your pin comes up in any active or completed auctions. That way you can see what people are actually willing to pay.

agnes!
