Bottled Water In A Suitcase?

We pack flavored water in zip lock bags, 3 bottles per gallon sized bag. I've never had one break or even leak. We split the bags up between our pieces of luggage so that weight isn't an issue.

I do this all the time, even on international flights. Never had a question from security.

As long as the bag is not overweight, no problem. Although Singapore has an airport(not airline) self imposed weight limit for your carry on, its the only place my carry on ever got weighed. I had to drink a couple pounds of water to get my bag under the limit so I did not have to check it. The plane took off with the same total weight, just two pounds moved under my head not over my head. :teeth:

I start a trip with 5 or 6 pint bottles in my carry on and more in my checked bag. Yes it weighs some, but its nice to know that the longer your trip is, the lighter your bag gets. :teeth:

I have a supply of my favorite good tasting spring water that cost me 20 cents each. What is it at the airport, $1.99 to $2.89? Yes the tap water is safe to drink in the US but some places yuck. Although I will refill my bottles if need be from the tap. If my plane is delayed, I am stuck at a hub for an extra 4 hours, I have enough water and snacks to tide me over the wait without having to pay for the overpriced airport junk food, unless I want to. In winter, if there is a possiblity of getting stuck in a hub for a day or two by a snowstorm, I carry enough "provisions" for a day and a half at least in my carry on. That and a good book and while away the hours.

Orlando has drinkable tap water, but many places I'd rather not. It is nice to know that you can arrive at midnight and go straight to your room because you have enough water and snacks in your suitcase to keep you till tomorrow.

How many bottles were you able to take with you?
:cool1:

We took 2 suitcases just for our drinks. One had a case of water in it, and the other had a case of gatoraid in it. More room for all the stuff that we bought to bring home in:lmao:

I am not an advocate of packing liquids and have made my opinion known in past.

I DO however want to post that someone has bumped up an old thread and liquids are no longer allowed in carryons. Some posts refer to liquids in carryons

I knew about the carryon. But you can still check it right?

Most of the frequent flyers here will ask that you DON'T do it. Anne, Safetymom and I have all had items ruined by a stranger packing liquids.

I realize that the chances of leakage may not be great, but if your bag leaks all over my items and ruins them, I have no way of getting compensation from you.

My request and suggestion is not to pack it - there are a number of great suggestions here on how to obtain liquids at your destination.

Without trying to sound elitist, my wife and I spend hard-earned money on our clothing. I must agree with this post....please DO NOT check bags containing bottled liquids.

I know there are some who could care less about someone else's need to have clean, DRY and undamaged clothing while traveling, but come on, keep a potential problem from happening.

Oh, by the way.... there are stores carrying food items in the Orlando, Florida area. They even carry stuff to drink.

::yes::
And, if that's not enough to make people think twice, the airlines are being much tougher about making people pay for overweight bags. Liquids are pretty heavy.

I've been biting my tongue, but I really hope that someone would not be so selfish and focussed on themselves after reading threads like this to pack water.

Water is easily obtained through various sources in WDW, as listed here. Ship ahead, buy online, use a grocery delivery service, go to one of the gas stations onsite, etc etc

Now, if we were talking about something which could not be purchased in FL or WDW, it may be a different story, but water is universally available.

Personally, I only know one person that has done this. He wanted Propel with him at WDW. This was when it was first marketed in select test markets and he didn't know if he would be able to get it there, so he packed a couple of cases in his luggage.

Thankfully it made it there intact. Even so, I wouldn't advocate doing this. The chances of it busting and ruining someone else's things may be small, but do you really want to take that chance? Better yet, would you want someone else taking that gamble and lose and have it affect your things?

However, I do have one observation --

As long as the bag is not overweight, no problem. Although Singapore has an airport(not airline) self imposed weight limit for your carry on, its the only place my carry on ever got weighed. I'm guessing now you can describe the lavatory in great detail? :teeth:

I think I'm the one who started this thread a long time ago. We ended up going through Staples, and if someone does this I recommend knowing that it is to your destination before you leave. We didn't get our water until half way through our trip, although it was delivered before we got there.

I don't know that I woudl trust it to be checked. However, i do understand people wanting to do so. We try to drink lots of water, and bottled water is high priced, even higher in WDW. It makes it more cost effective. We completely rely on Disney transportation, and we don't have the option of stopping anywhere. But, Staples worked out well for us.

How far in advance did you order the water for
delivery? because on the Staples Website
it states 1-7 days to be delivered? :hourglass
1 day wouldn't be bad but 7 days? :sad2:

Anytime I've ordered with Staples it's just been a couple days. I would seriuosly do it the 7 days, though, so you know that it is there before you are.
