For the first time in forever…

Rejoice, water park-hoppers! There’s no April Fools’ trick here! In honor of Blizzard Beach’s 30th anniversary today, Disney just announced both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon will be open at the same time this summer, from May 21st through September 7th.

That means for the first time since 2019, all six of Walt Disney World‘s parks will be open at the same time! Ever since the COVID era of closures and re-openings, only one of two water parks have been open at a time.

To prep for the summer fun, Blizzard Beach will be temporarily closed from May 1st through May 20th.

Pretty excited from a crowd level standpoint. We are going to be at one 5/25 and was worried how busy just TL would have been.

Can you park hop water parks with the free resort entry?

Does it say anywhere which one will be open beyond the September 7th date?

It should be TL since BB will only have had a 20 day shutdown from May 1 - 20 this year. And TL has had it's full winter shutdown in 2024-2025 (May 1st).

Now that is live do we have any confirmation on if you can visit both waterparks on check-in day? And is there a bus between them?

We are taking advantage of the water park on day of check in. I've never been. Anyone has suggestions? It will be me, my wife and a teenage daughter. We all love a good slide and i like lazy rivers.

Also since there’s no refillable mugs, can anyone share what they are doing at the beachcomber shacks? Is it bottled soda?

The Magic 8 Ball says yes. If both water parks are open on your Check-in day then you can hop between both parks subject to capacity limits.

There have not been many reports here on DIS but I have head from (3) different WP CMs that this is a valid thing. But with all things Disney, you should check before you leave a water park to see if the other water park may have reached max capacity before you hop.

Any word yet on whether having both open has cut down on crowds?.

ETA, just my opinion, but since there aren't direct busses to the water parks (correct?), park hopping between them seems more of a hassle than what its worth.

Any word yet on whether having both open has cut down on crowds?.

Highly subjective of course, but I was at TL Friday and thought the crowds "felt" better than they have in awhile for an otherwise "busy” very nice weather Friday heading into a summer holiday weekend. Of course one could argue whether Memorial Day is really that 'busy' of a weekend, some Florida schools not out yet, many school systems across the country not out yet, etc. There was also an H2O Glow event that night so impossible to say if that served any palpable reason to siphon off guests who may have otherwise come during the day.

I've been critical of the one water park setup because I thought it had a negative impact to the guest experience - full parks, longer lines, parking lot often full, etc - but for my one little moment in time day on Friday, I thought it was great.

We go to the water parks a lot, one day doesn't tell a tale - so I'll reserve judgement for a more full body of work over the course of the summer.

YMMV!
