Yes. It's not only okay to have your own luggage tags, it's something you absolutely should have on each bag.

After you check your bags with the airline at your home airport, each bag should have three tags:
  • Your luggage identification tag. This is any ID tag with your name, address, and phone number.
  • The yellow DME routing tag with your WDW resort and your barcoded DME reservation number. These tags will be in your Magical Express packet, which you should receive 1-3 weeks before your travel date; you need to apply these tags before you check in with the airline.
  • The white airline routing tag with "MCO" as your final destination. This tag will be applied by the airline counter agent or a skycap.

Ordinarily I'd never dispute Horace :teeth: but travel experts recommend NOT putting your home address on your identifying luggage tags as a way to discourage criminals (who may be trolling the airport for just this purpose) from getting addresses of travelers who won't be home for a while.
Instead, use a work address or the address of a friend or relative who's not travelling; or, on the way TO your destination, the address of your hotel.

There's no dispute. You raised a good point.

I wrote "address" — not "home address." I agree that it's better to use an address that's not your home address. I use my business address.

Thanks for the good info. Never would of thought of not putting my address on the tags. How about the phone #, should i use a cell?
Thanks! :sunny:

I always just write the last name and the hometown. A security expert once told me that the airline can usually figure out who on the flight the luggage belongs to with just those 2 pieces of info.

WOW... I thought I was a safe traveler.. and I have my home address on my luggage... Thank you so much for this great safety tip... I'll use my business card and change mine asap. GREAT TIP! :thumbsup2
