I'm not all that concerned that he felt any pain for what he did. 27 years on death row?!?!? That's WAAAAY too long.

We should bring back the firing squad.
Well well well...........we agree on something! I said the other day that a firing squad would be alot cheaper than the drug mix and the cost of electricity if they did the electric chair..........the thing is my money supported this guy in prison for 27 years! In this day in age when there is concrete proof that some of these guys did the crimes...video survelliance or DNA evidence I don't think they should even sit around for more than 30 days! Heck they are getting 3 meals a day, AC and medical treatment that is more than some of our poor or elderly get or can afford. His pain was probably a lot less than what his victim or the victims family felt. They said it took so long since his liver was not functioning properly due to liver disease :confused3

Although gruesome, the guillotine is the quickest and most painless way of execution.

I have said this before, I think they should die the way they killed their victims. I somehow doubt that their victims did not suffer.

ITA 27 years is way too long to be on death row.

But is it really cruel? If it's the quickest and most painless, then I say bring it back!

"Cruel and Unusual" is a moving target.

We live in one sick country. It is barbaric for a government to kill its own citizens. We should be better than the cold blooded killers but we're not. We're just as bad as they are.

Why not just stick them in a death-row like cell (no TV, no fun stuff) and let them rot there?

I read that article online the other day and it made me sick to my stomach.

"Put them on death row and let them rot" And let them live off our tax dollars for years???

And pay for them to get a roof over their heads and 3 squares a day?? For 30, 40, 50 years?? No thanks.

I agree with this, but that is cruel to them.

Somewhere down the line, some LIBERAL lawyer is gonna argue (and win) that isolation such as you describe is cruel and unusual punishment.

Then what?

I have to say that this is one thing that ticks me off is how they can sit in jail for so long getting much better attention that most people, 3 meals, roof over heads, medical....i cant believe they are concerned that it caused him pain after what he did, i really dont care how much it hurt, i hope it hurt him a lot...

The execution was not "botched!" He died! Bottom line here, folks.

As for how long it took or how painful it may have been, it sucks to be him. He's had 27 years of government hospitality. I think he came out ahead any way you shake it.

ITA!
And educate them, provide free medical care, allow them to sue for crunchy peanut butter, let them tie up our court system for years on end.......Death row inmates & prisoners in general are treated better than poor children in this country. That is just not right.

I have no issue with any method, I agree that it should be the same as they gave to the victim. Public hanging would also work for me. Cheap and quick.

My only issue with the death penalty is that it is not equitable across the board. Some get it some don't and the severity of the crime is not necessarily an indicator.

I'm not an American but I feel very strongly that, when a person commits a murder, they, in effect, automatically FORFEIT ANY AND ALL PRIVILEDGES afforded to law-abiding citizens!!! Simple as that.

Is the death penalty itself cruel? If not, then the guillotine is not cruel. If the death penalty is cruel in of itself, then any form of execution could be considered cruel. I say if we have to have the death penalty (and I support it in certain instances), then just get the darned thing over with. No matter how heinous their crime, making the condemned suffer while putting them to death doesn't make us much better than the criminal themselves. Just mho.

Although my first thought was that it was cruel, it makes me think. I mean there are so many homeless people that did nothing bad in there lives but had bad luck and WE pay for the guys that are evil and kill people? That just dosen't seem right. I mean if anything I think the homeless people should be in jail (not behind bars but have a roof with food.) because It just seems unfair that we pay for them.
