Hi everyone. We are now getting excited about our ski trip to Killington at the end of March - we have tagged on two nights in Boston at the end so we can explore the city a bit more.

Please can I have recommendations of the best area to stay in Boston. I've checked out all the usual hotel booking sites, but am totally befuddled now with the Boston areas.

We will be driving from Killington to Boston mid-afternoon on Weds 4th April, flying out of Logan early evening Friday 6th April and plan to do the duck tour, check out some of the Pilgrims Walk and do some shopping. Where should we be looking to stay? We need a mid-price hotel (between $120-180) or thereabouts, and there will be 8 of us (four adults, four kids).

Any advise much welcomed, thanks:)

I'd suggest the Hyatt Regency Cambridge its just across the river from Boston or the Millennium Bostonian which is right across from Faneuil Hall in Boston.

Go to Expedia or hotels.com and look for hotels in either the Back Bay or Copley ares of Boston...those area's are close to everything and have several subway stops in the are as well.

we love Jury's in Boston (from what I understand its nicer than the Jury's normally are in the UK). recently we also stayed at the courtyard Marriott, which I believe is cheaper than Jury's, and it was really much nicer than I expected it to be. I missed having room service for breakfast, but otherwise it was perfectly fine, and priced nicely.

Jury's is great. My company actually has a deal with them where we put up all of our out-of-town clients. I've had a ton of breakfast meetings there and I've stayed there a few nights with clients. It's a boutique-y hotel, and not too expensive. Plus, it's right in Copley Square and the location cannot be beat!

It is nice, isn't it? we stayed there last christmas for my dh's team christmas party. this year his boss wanted to be a bit more economical, so we were at the courtyard. again, the courtyard wasn't bad, it was much nicer than most courtyards I've stayed at, but oh how I missed jury's! there is just something so nice about it. and oh how we missed the breakfast in the morning.

We had great rooms at the Hampton Inn in Cambridge, Mass. You can walk to the Museum of Science, where the Duck Tours originate. Plus, you're within walking distance to the Metro line as well and then you're only a few minutes from downtown Boston. The price was reasonable and they served a hot breakfast as well.

I was in Boston for a Microsoft conference last June and stayed at the Boston Park Plaza - it was a wonderful hotel.

Hi everyone - thanks for all the input, much appreciated. I've certainly got some nice hotels to check out now:)

Thanks for your information:goodvibes

There are a couple of very neat B & B's on Charles Street, which is in Beacon Hill.... we are staying there in February... and they are a bit more reasonable than the bigger hotels.. not sure if you are into that or not, walking distance to Copley....

http://www.johnjeffrieshouse.com/view-rooms.htm (a bit older, but clean and nice)they actually have kitchenettes.

http://www.beaconhillhotel.com/bistro.html (smaller rooms, but very nice, restaurant on first floor with nice bar)

Very posh, http://www.charlesstreetinn.com/

I have not stayed at the third one, I have stayed at the second one and will be staying at the first one in February as it is close to the Mass General where DH had some tests..

Just a bit of an alternative for you. Love Charles Street.
