Borrowing - Transfering

Before I commit to transferring points to someone, I have a question...

In order to transfer points to someone else, I will have to borrow them from next year's point allotment.
If I borrow points from a future year into my current year, can I then transfer them to someone else???

No, borrowed points can not be transferred - however - you can transfer points from your 2011 Use Year into another member's 2011 Use Year.

Members can only borrow points when actually making a reservation. If that reservation is later canceled the points will remain as borrowed points and cannot be banked or transferred and will expire at the end of the Use Year into which they were borrowed.

Banked points cannot be transferred either. At this time, depending on the month your Use Year begins, it is possible to transfer current points from a 2009 Use Year (June, August, September, October, December) into another member's 2009 Use Year and from your 2010 Use Year into another member's 2010 Use Year.

as long as it's 2011 to 2011 - if my use year is Aug and theirs is something else it doesn't matter???

No, the month does not matter at all. Just 2010 into 2010, 2011 into 2011. In fact, you can even make (or receive) two transfers the same day as long as the Use Years are different. The month just determines when the transferred points will expire in their respective Use Year - and that month is carried over with the transfer.

So, WebmasterDoc and Disneynutz, if I wanted to receive a transfer to be used in 2011, could I request now that someone's 2011 points be transferred to my 2011 points? Or would we have to actually wait until 2011 for the transfer to take place?

You can do a transfer into your current UY or your next UY. So, if you are in you 2010 UY, you can do a Tranfer of 2011 points (your next UY) now.

You can also do a transfer of 2010 Uy points now and bank them into 2011 to use in that UY. -- Suzanne

As Suzanne explained, you can accept transfers from the current and next Use Year. You do not need to wait until 2011 to accept a transfer for that Use Year.
