I have a (probably stupid) question while patiently waiting for rofr. If I have 200 points and a February use year and I want to book a room next June (2014) in lets say September of this year using 2014 points do I have to borrow 2014 points this year to make the reservation?

It doesn't seem like I should have to, in fact it seems like I could technically borrow 2015 points to make that 2014 reservation in September 2013. Does this question make sense? Am I crazy?

No. A June 2014 vacation falls within your 2014 use year. To pay for that vacation, you could also use points that you banked from your 2013 use year and you could borrow points from your 2015 use year if needed.

Points taken for a reservation are based on the dates of the vacation, not the date you make the reservation.

You are correct. Here is a more detailed explanation of use year:

Good luck with ROFR! :)
