Borrowing question

I am wanting to make a reservation for 2013 but will need to borrow all of the points (except 3 of them)from my 2014 use year contract. Can I do that online? When I go online, it only shows my 2012 and 2013 points on the reservation page so I wasn't sure if it had to be done through MS. Also, if I borrow the points then need to cancel the reservation, it is my understanding the points must be used in the 2013 use year. Is that correct? Thanks for your help.

Yes, the online system allows you to borrow points to make a reservation.

You will not be able to see your 2014 points until your 2012 use year begins. But you cannot make a reservation that will occur within your 2013 use year until 11 months prior to check in anyway (and that will not occur until your 2012 use year begins).

If you end up canceling the 2013 vacation, the points you borrowed cannot be returned to the 2014 use year, so yes, they will expire at the end of your 2013 use year.

I could be more specific, if I knew your use year. But since you cannot yet see any 2014 points online, I know you have either an August, September, October or December use year.

If you have any other use year, then you will not be able to borrow 2014 points for your planned 2013 vacation, because the vacation dates fall within your 2012 use year.

As PP stated, when you are at your 11 month out mark, you will have access to your 2014 points to borrow. Once borrowed, they have to used in your 2013 UY. The points can not be transfered once borrowed either.

Thank you Disers for responding. Well, now I'm confused. I am within my 11month booking for 2013 for my home resort and close to my non home resort 7 month booking. I have a February use year.

Here is what it says on my page.

Home Resort: You can book your arrival as far out as June 19, 2013 for a stay up to June 26, 2013.

Non-Home Resort: You can book your arrival as far out as February 19, 2013.

For my points, it shows 2012 Available 0 and 2013 Available 3. I'm wanting to book a resort for March 2013 but was planning on borrowing from 2014. I'm sure I'm missing something. Any help is thoroughly appreciated.

Given what you have posted, you should be able to book your March 2013 vacation at your home resort now and at a non-home resort as soon as the 7 month window opens.

Have you tried to book online? Maybe it will show you 2014 when it realizes you need to borrow for the reservation. If not, call MS.

Thanks so much for the help. I haven't tried to book online yet because I want a non home resort (VGC in March) and my 7 month window hasn't opened quite yet. I just happened to notice when I was looking at the online booking area that it didn't show 2014 so I wondered if online borrowing wasn't allowed. Thanks, again, for your response! When my window opens, I will definitely be giving it a try!
