Borrowing Points To Make Reservation Then Banking Later...

Hopefully I can get this question to make some sense...

If I have 100 PTs at DVC "A" and 40 PTs at DVC "B" I know that I can use my total banked, current, and next years points to make a reservation at each at 11 months.

My question is... at 11 months I make a reservation at DVC "B" that will require 120 Pts. I've banked my 40 previous year, have my 40 current year, and will need to borrow my 40 from next year to process the reservation. At the 7 month window would I then be able to bank my 40 current points from DVC "B" (to basically replace the 40 I had to borrow to make the reservation) and pull the difference from my allotment of points from DVC "A"?

Thanks for any and all input!

Not unless there is still availability at DVC "B" for the exact same reservation. To do this, MS will cancel the first reservation and then make a new reservation using the DVC "A" points. If there is a waitlist, the canceled unit/dates will go to the waitlist.

In general, you can't just substitute points home resort points with non home resort points after the 7 month window opens if there are waitlists. That would defeat the purpose of the home resort booking advantage. It wouldn't be fair to home resort owners who are on the waitlist to let a member substitute points that weren't available at the time the original reservation was made. So you can only "substitute" if there is still availability for what you originally reserved.
