borrowing and use year

I emailed member services but want to see if anyone here might get me a faster answer. Our use year is December. My in-laws anniversery is 11/29. We were going to book with Dreams for them to take the disney cruise and pya half cash half points for us to join them. (this is for the 11/29/03 cruise) Will they let me borrow points two days early as we will be on the ship still on 12/1? thanks ann

You can not book the cruise with MS until 11 months in advance, which would be 12/29/02 (actually it will have to be 12/30 as the 29th is a Sunday). At that time you will have available to you all your Dec 2002 points and you may borrow Dec 2003 points.

I do know when I can book, we are going on the 12/6 western this year so I figured I could book when we return. My problem is that we have done the cruise three years now and still always borrow some from the following year and cruise in Dec. So we would have left for the 2003 like 50 points and would have available to borrow as of 12/1/03 215 points. To pay for one adult on the cruisewith points ( which leaves 11/29 and returns 12/6) I need either 191 or 177 points for the catagory we usually get. So my question is will DVC let me book so that I can get on board two days early when I will have MUCH more than neccessary points when the cruise is actually underway?

I don't think they will allow you to borrow 2004 points for an 11/29/03 cruise since the cruise date is in your 2002 use year.

Cruises are booked 11 months from departure date. As Debbie says, 11/29/03 falls within your 2002 use year (12/1/2002 - 11/30/2003) and you can only borrow one use year ahead. If you don't have enough points left in your 2003 use year, a strict interpretation of the rules say you won't be able to use points for that cruise.

Perhaps MS will make an exception since the cruise "straddles" you use year. (Of course, that is what you are asking, but I have to admit I don't know for sure).

PS. Sounds like you either need to buy more points or resign yourselves to taking a "Disney" break fairly soon.

I don't know what MS will say- and will let you all know when we hear from them. Actually we have plently of points to do what we what usually it is just this two day thing that may mess us up. We currently have 215 points and for a family of three that seems to work well.
