Hello,
I have a group traveling next March that requires 4 rooms. I have three rooms booked on current UY points and am thinking of booking one more on borrowed points. One of the reservations may cancel, their name is on a current UY reservation. This is my dilemma...if I make one more ressie on borrowed points with mine and Dh name on it, knowing we will are definitely going, what happens to the current UY points if that particular ressie is cancelled? Does it go into hold or returned to current UY to be banked? Has anyone experienced this before? Am I able to book my reservations this way? I hope I explained this enough to understand it. TIA

As long as you cancel a reservation at least 31 days in advance, the points are returned to your account with the same status they had just before the reservation was made.

So if a reservation made with current use year points is cancelled at least 31 days in advance the points just go back into your account. If you are within the banking deadlines, you can bank the points.

If you cancel a reservation made with borrowed points, the points go back into your account but retain the "borrowed" status. That means they expire at the end of the use year unless you use them for another reservation. You can't return borrowed points to their original use year and you cannot bank them.

If you cancel 1 to 30 days prior to arrival, it doesn't matter what points were used for the reservation. The points are returned to your account in "holding status". That means they expire at the end of the use year and can only be use to book a stay that will occur 60 days or less from the time you call to book. Holding points cannot be banked.

If you cancel on the day of arrival, all the points used for the reservation are forfeited.

I think it is a good idea to use the borrowed points on a reservation you know you will use.
