Born Again Christians Thread-No Bashing please

Morning everyone! Glad to see the bumping of this thread agin :goodvibes

I've only been a part of one Bible study from our church that was 12 weeks long. The book we used is called "God at Your Wits End" by Marilyn Meberg of Women of Faith. It was an excellent study and really helped me when I was going through my first trial and tribulation about 2 years ago.

I also picked up a two more Bible study books from this year's Women of Faith Conference - Amazing Freedom and Overcoming Fear. I've skimmed it over but haven't done the study yet. It's kind of hard when you don't have anyone else to do it with you. Especially when you have questions that you would like to discuss with others. Yeah, I could suggest it to the ladies at Ladies Bible Study. But at the last study, I felt looked down on b/c I had more open views compared to the "traditionalist" views of some of the older ladies there (I'm Luthern - Missouri Synod branch).

Well, a lot has happened since I last posted all those months ago. DH and I were watching "Facing the Giants" last winter and one passage that was quoted stood out to me. It was Revelation 3:7-8 (NIV) " ...These are the words of him who is holy and true, who hold the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name."

The Lord was telling me that I will be seeing a change soon (I assumed that I would be moving up in the company I currently work for). Well, at the end of August, the company I work for told all of us that they have decided to sell the building we are in. The remaining departments will be moving to another facility and any directors in the office will be working from home. That leaves three of us who will be out of a job once this place closes.

DH and I received our monthly letter from Ken Copeland Ministries with a pamplet enclosed with the letter saying in BIG letters that Now is the Season of Change. DH looked at me and said, "Do you need it in any bigger letters." I've been looking for a new job and have been on a few interviews. No offers as of yet. Each time I kept reminding myself that I need to be patient and wait on the Lord. That even though there are very few admin assistant/receptionist jobs in my area, it just means that the door God has for me is not available yet; it's just not the right time.

Fast forward to last week. I got a call from a company that I had sent my cover letter and resume to through CareerBuilder the first week of September. They wanted to know if I was still interested in the job b/c it's open again. I had a 15 minute phone interview going over my background and we set up a face-to-face interview for today at 2 pm  :woohoo: ! Praise to our Lord God! He has opened this door and has prepared me for this. Both of us have this feeling of "you know that you know that you know" with this company.

Last night DH and I watched "Facing the Giants" again and I pretty much got confirmation that my job situation is ready to change.

If anyone hasn't watched "Facing the Giants" I highly recommend it. It's based on a true story of a Christian school's football team in Albany, GA. Alex Kendrick did this one as well as one other called "Flywheel". Both are excellent movies :thumbsup2

Just sharing the Bible verse of the day from http://www.biblegateway.com/

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”- Ephesians 2:8-9

Hi! Another United Methodist from NC here. :goodvibes
That book title sounds interesting. I think I'll check it out too.

Well howdy nieghbor! DW and I co-pastor a church in the town of Trinity, near High Point

FTG is an awesome movie. :thumbsup2 I love that deathcrawl scene. I can't tell you how inspirational that is to me.

Anybody doing any outreach events tomorrow night? Our church is having a Trunk 'n' Treat -free candy, free hot dogs, etc. We did it for the first time last year and it was a big hit. We served a couple hundred families from the community.

It has been a long time since I have checked in on this thread....hope everyone is doing well.

I am asking for prayers, things are pretty bad for my family and I. I have been with out steady income for the last 6 months and things are not looking to good. Please pray that God will provide a decent job and that we get back on track financially soon.

Thanks!!

Here's a piece of scripture that I gave another DISer before. It's from Revelation 3:7-8 NIV (and was also in the movie Facing The Giants as well).

"...These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut, I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name."

Be patient and wait on the Lord. He will open up the door He has for you when it is the right time. I had to remind myself of that since the end of August. I wasn't doing well trying to find another job these last few months either. There was hardly anything out there in my surrounding area. I just kept reminding myself that b/c there is nothing out there, it just means that the open door God has for me is not available yet.

Fast forward to last week (and my post at the top of this page), I had a 2 hour interview for a company that I had applied to the first week of September. Last Friday that company called and offered me the job, and of course, I accepted. After the usual drug test and background check (which I'm now at the point of waiting for to clear), they can discuss a start date with me  :woohoo: DH and I *know* that this is the open door the Lord has for me and where he needs me.

Cyjmhill, keep on praying and don't forget to thank and praise Him.

I am on here all the time and never seen this thread:confused3 Anyway Glad to see it now! How's everyone today? My bible study group has just started Giving Christ first place. Has anyone else done it. We usually do Beth Moore (whom I adore) so this will be a change.

I have not done that, Jami. Please let us know about it, OK? I am a huge Beth Moore fan. Love to do her studies.

Thank you so much for your kind words and prayers!

Just an update - within the next 2 weeks I have 4 interviews with the State. I am praying that I will be hired for one of these positions.

Please continue to pray for us.

Thanks again and God Bless!!!

Also, Happy Thanksgiving!

Great to see this thread again!
Cyjmhill keeping you in my prayers and sending a big:grouphug:
Sometimes it is hard to wait on the Lord; but as you said his timing is perfect.
For myself my greatest times of growth is when I AM GOING THROUGH STUFF AND HAVE TO REST IN HIM. However his grace is always sufficient to see us through any situation and in the end he gives us something better thaqn we could have ever imagined. Hang on, the good stuff is coming your way.

Hi everyone & Happy Thanksgiving!

This life is full of ups & downs. I'm always comforted by this passage:

1 Thessalonians 4

The Coming of the Lord

13Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. 14We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18Therefore encourage each other with these words.

Hi everyone.

Could you please say a prayer for us, that God will help us resolve a serious financial problem we are having.

I spent the morning looking up all the passages about not worrying and that really helped a lot too.

Thank you and God bless. :goodvibes

PalmtreeGirl here are some verses for you to claim:
Psalm 5:12 - For thou,LORD, will bless the righteous; with favor wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
Psalm 34: 4-10 verse 4 is one of my favorites"I sought the LORD, and he heardme; and delivered me from all my fears."
Prayers said.

Might I add PalmTreeGirl, Psalm 46--God is our refuge & strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear.

There's another wonderful scripture that I found very helpful years ago when I was going through some *stuff*...of course I can't for the life of me remember the reference!! :lmao: However, it was close to...."I waited patiently for the Lord, He turned to me & heard my cry." I remember it got me through because I am not a patient person typically & want my Father to take care of my *stuff* NOW....but as sometimes even our earthly parents have taught us or we to our own children, there are times you must wait....patiently....& when the Lord is ready (in His timing, not ours), He will turn to you & hear your complaint.

Best of luck to you PalmTreeGirl...I hope things work out for you...soon!
