one thing I'd always remembered was that you have to accept Jesus in order to be saved. I have my own set of beliefs, due to experiences that I've had throughout my life, but I do believe in the existence of God and I pray. I consider myself more "spiritual" than religious.

i would encourage you read a small book called how to be a christian without being religious. it is an explanation of the book of romans and explains alot of what it means to be a christian.

Glad to see postings again on this sight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It had been so long that I thought it had died out.
Praises to God it is still going!

This morning I dropped my youngest off at school at 7:00 AM (which is about an hour and half early) so he could attend the "Meet Me At The Pole" event. This is an event that happens every year at our town's public schools. Meet Me At The Pole is an event where Christian Students of the School meet at the flag pole before school to pray for the school, teachers, students and our leaders.

This is such a wonderful thing and I need to share it.

God Bless and have a great day!

I have a question...

When you're praying for something, how can you tell if the answer is "no" or "not yet?"

I've been praying for something for quite some time now, and I haven't "felt" that the answer is no. In fact, God has shown me what I interpret as signs, to not give up. One time, in fact, I asked for a sign and right then, it happened 2x in a row.

I really don't believe in coincidences. Maybe what I'm praying for is lame :p Any thoughts?

If you feel you saw signs not to give up, why are you doubting your feelings? If you really sit back and think about things, the timing of when many things happen is very important in how things turn out. God knows what that best timing will be, have faith in your signs.

I don't think I can really describe HOW I know what the answer is, sometimes I just KNOW things. Some people would describe what I know as "psychic" but I believe it is just hearing God. I just get "feelings" sometimes that I know are fact, I know with such a certainty I even tell other people about it. I haven't been proved a fool yet. ;)

I think many adults try to hard to analyze and explain everything, and we try to explain away what God is telling us. It is hard for adults to just listen and have faith. I think it is MUCH easier for children, and the Bible makes several references to that..."faith of a child", etc.

Hi. I haven't posted on this thread before, but I've read parts of it from time to time.

I was trying to post to a thread on another board, but got an "Invalid Thread" message when I hit "Submit". I know we're not allowed to start a new thread continuing a closed or deleted thread, and this was the only place I thought I could post what I'd wanted to post there.

The thread on the other board was about skywriting messages in Florida, and this was to be my added post:

Saw this not at Disney World, but while traveling to that general area of Florida in late November 2005. I'd literally barely stepped out of my home for several years, and being able to watch and take pictures of someone skywriting "Jesus Loves You" and "God Loves You" was a wonderful experience. Certainly a very memorable highlight from the drive, and even if I had been going to Disney World, nothing there could have topped that hour or so for me. :sunny:

Thanks for the thread, and for the link to the website. :)

I was happy to be reminded of that experience today. I'm sure I'm hardly the only person who has been touched by the skywriter's efforts.

In Christ,

Hi all :wave2:

Our school is selling magazines. Last year I subscribed to Guideposts.

This year, I think I want to try another one.
I am wondering if any of you have read these:

Faith Today
Gods Word Today
Christianity Today
SpiritLed Woman
Todays Christian
Todays Christian Woman

Can you give me a little detail about what the magazine is like?
Likes/Dislikes?
Recipes? Decorating tips? Just stories? Lots of advertising?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!
thanks! :)

 Hi All,

It's been a long time between posts. My boss just found out he has lymphoma. He is starting Chemo this week and needs prayer! He has confessed that he believes God will heal him; but has to deal with unbelievers who are not supportive. His name is Art. Please hold him up in prayer. I believe God will reveal himself to the unbelievers.

Hi Grandma Bear - I was just thinking about you tonight!
Will pray for your boss...

Thank You! He is a wonderful brother in the Lord. We are trusting God to heal him and use this to draw many unto him!

Prayers for Art! :wizard:

A couple days of go, I was able to go to the MercyMe Coming up to Breath Tour also with AudioAdrenaline and Phil Wickham. It was a great concert, and was nearly packed.

Hello all new to this thread! My story....

As a child I was raised Catholic but when I turned 18, I left the church. I wandered around, "shopping for religions" for awhile and then I just gave up. I didn't now what I believed in, I was very confused. Every once and awhile I'd search again but nothing felt right.

But then something happened in my life that made me re-examine everything and I found God, once again but in an entirely different way then before. On September 11, 2006 I chose to accept Jesus, asked for forgivness for my sins and accepted his gift of salvation. When I did I felt a peace I can't describe and it feel so right, like I've come home.

I'm still torn over the organized religion thing and haven't found a home church yet, it's a trust issue. I was burned by the Catholic church and they lost my trust, so I'm having a problem putting my faith into a "organized church" but my faith in Jesus is stronger then ever before.

That is awesome :thumbsup2

I have heard people say this before and I will say it here. There is a big difference between your personal faith in God, and the religion itself.

Good luck on finding a Church. May I recommend a Methodist?

Just wanted to say welcome to palmtreegirl! That's fantastic news and Saxsoon's advice is good. Just pray you'll be led to the right church for you and your family.

Welcome ~ Blessings and Happy Birthday!
Ask the Lord to direct you,
and read your Bible daily even if you're not attending church.

Welcome dear sister in Christ!

Keep studying the Word on your own .. and keep praying the Lord will show you where HE wants you to be! HE knows the right place for you - whether it be in a denomination - or a small little fellowship of Believers!

Bless you as you look...

What a blessing! As others have said, pray that God will lead you to the right church family. We have attending many different churches and found a home in an Assembly of God. As a child I attended a non-denominational church. I enjoy both churches. Just my personal preference, but I am not a firm believer in many "rules". No offense to anyone but I believe that having a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ will get me to heaven not whether I forgo meat on certain days or forgo dancing. I know everyone has different beliefs so I truly respect how everyone worships but I personally enjoy the AoG approach of a more relaxed yet intense love of God (if that makes sense).
