Born Again Christians Thread-No Bashing please

Hi Everyone! Just a quick update, I met with the school principal Wednesday and then talked to the school coordinator today and guess what???? I get a discount plus I had the option to roll my hours from being a pay check to going right into the tuition......it came out to right at $4000. :teeth: Thanks for going with me in prayer! You guys are the best! I am so looking forward to this position and hope in the future it might work into something more on a full time level maybe in the office, etc. Having been on the side of the working parent picking up a child at 4:30 or 5:00 and having to go home, get supper, clean up, do homework and the time that consumes, I really want to be a blessing to the other parents by helping the kids get some of their homework done at after school care. But also letting the kids have some free play time also.

Has anyone read Rick Warrens "Purpose driven life" and would did you think of it? he seems like he has the gift of evangelism to me. what do you think?

I am not born again, but I have read this book and loved it. I think this is a really nice thread. :thumbsup2

Let me ask if this means anything...I'd spent years and years studying different religions (researching, I mean) and one thing I'd always remembered was that you have to accept Jesus in order to be saved. I have my own set of beliefs, due to experiences that I've had throughout my life, but I do believe in the existence of God and I pray. I consider myself more "spiritual" than religious. Anyway, one night while praying, I said the words "I accept Jesus into my heart" and right then, I felt this incredible feeling of warmth come from my heart. I can't explain it. It was literally a warm, "release" kind of feeling.

Anybody have an opinion on that? I've often wondered if I imagined it, but no, I know I didn't, I can remember exactly how it felt. It was real.

To answer your question of does this mean anything, I would have to say ABSOLUTELY! :goodvibes

I'm not sure how long ago you had this experience, but I encourage you to pick up the Bible and read the Gospel of John. That can explain to you further what it means to "accept Jesus."

And then I encourage you to talk to Jesus more often. Ask Him for guidance in where you should go from here, which group of believers you should join...it sounds like you have been searching spiritually. Two things I have to stress for you...praying to God is so important...and then listening for His answer. You will find His answers in the Bible (so start with John and keep reading!)

I'll be praying for you!

How wonderful! I'm happy for you ... isn't it wonderful how the Lord keeps us?!?!?

Oh yes... and I second everything Joy says... getting into God's Word will not only solidify what you've done - but will explain how to go from here!

John is the PERFECT place to start!

Hey all! :wave2:

I am in High School Marching band and there is this one guy who is deep down, a great, great guy. I guess at some point in his life, he decided to become agnostic, not because there was evidence against Christianity, as far as I could tell, just that he didn't know. Sadly, he also does a lot of pot and other illegal substances, and I hate to see him ruin himself like this.

Well the other day; him, my athiest friend, and I got into a friendly discussion about the universe and politics and such. That is where I found out he was agnostic. I had just finished the Case for Faith from Lee Strobel, and offered it too him to read, and he gladly accepted. :cool1: He says he is not sure about religion, but the way he gladly said yes, it sounded like he wanted to overcome possibly some of the obstacles stated in that book. I just didn't have the book with me. He hasn't been back to band camp, but luckily school starts this Monday, so hopefully I can give it too him.

Please pray for him, and if anything else, pray for his drug habits, and that he will be able to kick them. In that book, it talked of some amazing transformations in people, and I hope he could be changed into a brother in Christ.

Saxsoon,

Are you in High School? As in a student? Oh my goodness, I thought you were so much older! Take that as a compliment, you seem very mature in your faith.

I'll be praying for your friend.

Yes as in student, rofl. :goodvibes I will be a junior, and he will be a senior.

I have been told that several times on these boards for things other than this. Thank you for the compliment. :goodvibes

I will keep both you and your friend in prayer. May God give you wisdom and may this book open the door for you to share your faith more with him.

I will say a prayer for your friend right now. Drugs can really ruin people's lives, and I will pray that he will come to the Lord and get help with his addiction as well.

Hope everyone is doing all right. :cool1:

I read this amazing book by Ted Dekker, Thr3e. WOW. This book was so thought provoking on so many levels, and just plain fun to read. The book was a real life portrayal of good, evil, and the middle man fighting in between to come to a choice. Wow. If you don't know, T.D. is an outstanding Christian author, with this now becoming a major motion picture. I absolutely insist on everyone reading this thriller. Wow

I wanted to jump in on the Christian fiction....

I love Terri Blackstock. I've read the Newpointe 911 series, which was wonderful. Highly recommended. The first book is Private Justice and you definitely need to go in order.

I also absolutely LOVE Kristin Billerbeck. Definitely more for the feminine/fluffy side, but I loooooooved her Ashley Stockingdale series. So great for the single Christian woman!

Sending up prayers for those who have asked for them. I myself am trying a new church, and I feel like it might be the right direction. Pray that I'm listening correctly ;)

I forgot to say that I was saved in Feb. of 1976 at the age of 10 (almost 11).

Nifty! I was born again on Febuary 29th, 1976 (Leap Year) at the age of 11.

Almost embarrassed to say (I am a man and not supposed to love such things) that I am a HUGE fan of the O'Malley series of novels by Dee Henderson. Great books.
