Born Again Christians Thread-No Bashing please

Bigotry disguised as religion is the most dangerous kind of all.

Interestingly, when I ran a Google search for "crime statistics - Jewish", almost ALL of my responses were about hate crimes aimed at Jewish victims. For example:
http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0RFV/is_2002_Annual/ai_n7639725

http://www.adl.org/PresRele/ASUS_12/4608_12.htm

I couldn't find any statistics comparing the number of Jewish defendants to the number of non-Jewish defendants arrested, tried and/or convicted
of any crimes, let alone pedophilia. But considering that Jews make up only 1% of the population in this country, I find it hard to believe they predominate the ranks of criminal defendants.

Bigotry sees what it wants to see.

I will pray for the bigot's enlightenment.

It was directed at me,and I certainly don't believe it's representitive of Born Again Christian opinion...I hope this doesn't cause the thread to be closed. I'll feel partially responsible as I sort of lost track and posted here way too much..this was supposed to be for you guys and I am sorry

You are in no way responsible for the anti-Semitism of one of the posters. Your contributions to the thread were valuable and I hope that you will continue to post.

I'm an atheist and even I appreciate this thread.

ohhhh No.I'm not apologizing for that..Just for hijacking the thread

Jenny and other Jewish DISers, please know that the opinion stated by a particular poster does not reflect born again Christian beliefs. I am appalled and disgusted by the comment, as I know are the other posters on this thread. Please continue to share with us here--I enjoy our dialogue very much. An interesting note is that Christians are to side with Israel according to Scripture. I am so deeply sorry for the disrespect you were shown.

K Guys, not to beat a dead horse, but....
let's remember what this thread was created for!

People are baiting you, and you are falling for it, hook, line and sinker!!

Those of you (not naming any names-you know who you are! ;) ) that are coming over here just to stir the pot-please go and start your own threads. There are lots of good discussions taking place over on the other threads. Can't you just leave this one for what it was meant for-fellowship, sharing, testimonies, etc... as outlined MANY times before

Please? :flower:

Prayer request:

I have a job interview tomorrow for a position that seems like it would be perfect for me. Please pray for God's will to be done!

Thank you-

I am praying God's will for your job. I hope that you get your heart's desire; but remember that when he closes a door ,somewhere he opens a window.

Albertan Mom, there seem to be many Born Again Christians who are enjoying their dialogue with people of other faiths and even other Christian view points. As for baiting, no one baited the OP into making a vicious anti-Semitic comment. Some of the Jewish readers were simply responding to questions posed by the Born Again Christians.

I think that dialogue is healthy. This has been a very informative thread and has helped to shatter some stereotypes about Born Again Christians.

And remember, one of the goals of this thread is to witness. How can you witness to others if non-believers do not stop in to hear what you have to say? :confused3

TELL me about that!! I have a story with that....I was working for the school district...as a secretary substitute. I had applied for a few full time positions within the district, but others were hired instead. I thought, fine. I'm talented, I will find a job elsewhere! Or, I thought, I should work the sign business. My DH has been a sign painter for 30 years...he has another full time job, but has always wanted a sign shop. Lately, when jobs have come up, I do the design work, and he paints them. It works out great. But I thought, just get a job, Michelle. Steady pay. Reliable.

So, I interviewed for one job---great company, small office, great pay, benefits, etc...well, didn't work out. I was bummed, but the guy I was going to work for sent me to his church to apply there. I went on 2 interviews and they hired someone else again. This time I was heartbroken, again. So, I took it as a "sign" (no pun intended!!) and started full time into building up the sign business...well, be careful what you ask for!!!

The sign business has been AMAZING in the past 2 months...I can't get over it. The point is, I never thought I would be doing this!! I had tried in the past to build the sign biz, and nothing ever happened. Its pretty cool how things just "happen". If you leave it in God's hands.

Some time I'll have to continue this story into tithing...THAT is a GREAT TESTIMONY!!

I will pray for your success in your interview....

I am glad non-believers are popping in to read and listen. Maybe I was off-but to come on to a Christian thread and say the Jesus is a homosexual seemed like a bait to me!!

Born Again Christians live their world around the Lord. We love the Lord, and believe the bible to be 100% true. Just like you would be offended if someone offended your kids, or spouse, it is hard to hear someone talk negatively about our Lord.

You need to remember that Christians aren't perfect, nor do we claim to be. We say things that sometimes come out wrong, or get us in trouble. The last thing we want to do is give Christians a bad name, or turn someone off of Christianity. But you have to remember, we are flesh too. Only Jesus was sinless. We as Christians need to forgive, and show grace and mercy to each other, and non-christians.

Glad you are stopping by, all I asked is that you would respect our beliefs. We will be happy to answer questions-if they seem genuine, not just to get us riled up! (speaking for myself anyway!) I am in enough trouble right now on the Ouija Board thread. I come to this one for encouragement and support, and happy times!

Have a great day! :flower:

Amazing. The OP makes a totally uncalled for not even supported by the majority of Christian remarks and those of us who call her on it are the one's that are stirring up trouble. We are the one's "baiting" her/him. Jenny and Hound were actually having an intelligent conversation so I'm not sure how you figure Jenny was baiting him/her to make such horrible remarks, but I guess that is how you see it.

And then you wonder why another thread was started where people can actually talk openly. :sad2:

It's 10:30 PM and I am off to bed. I wish all of you a peaceful, restful night. And yes, that includes you too Albertan Mom. ;)

Amanda, I can't and shouldn't try to put words in other people's mouths, but I think that the post Albertan mom was referring to as being "bait" so to speak was the comment about Jesus possibly being a homosexual. I don't think she meant the bigoted comment that was made after that. I agree with you that no one baited anyone to make such a blatantly bigoted and hateful comment.

I'm truly happy things are working out for you! It is scary to take a leap of faith that is against the norm (w2 job, steady paycheck, benefits, etc). I pray that your business will continue to do well and that you reap success. Remember to pay it forward!
