I have not read all 150 pages plus of this thread but I would like to put my thoughts.
I am not a 'Born Again' Christian, however I am a Christian, was brought up in a Christian household, we used to have the keys for the Church, used to clean the Church, polish the Brass put out the chairs ring the bell, when older I read from the Bible and helped at Holiday Clubs for children.
I have not had a 'Road to Damascus' revelation and sometimes feel I am looked down upon as a poor Christian by those who have after coming to Christ later in life.
Andy B, welcome! Don't worry, I haven't even read all 150 pages either. It would take me all day (and then some) to catch up

!
Born Again is a term used for those that have accepted Jesus Christ as their savior. If you have opened your heart and have accepted Him, then you are born again.
I haven't read A Road to Damascus either, so you are not alone there
I'm sorry that you feel looked down upon by other Christians. Some Christians will act that way without realizing it (I'm even guilty of doing that on occassion

) and others do it with such a

attitude and not acting in Love the way Jesus commanded us to be. What they may not realize is that all of us are at different spiritual levels in our walk with God. Some are still on spiritual milk and others are on spiritual meat, as the Apostle Paul talked about. The only thing that we can do as Christians, is to pray for those that act that way.
My spiritual level (walk with God) is much higher (or further along) than most of those in the congregation of my church. There are those in my church (we're Lutheran) that will look down upon me if I talk about anything other than "Lutheranism". I had felt that

attitude towards me when I had done a 12 week women's Bible study back in 2005. At first I was a bit miffed, but now, I'm praying for them and our whole congregation, and asking God to open their hearts and to guide them.
I can't change a person's attitude, but God can from the inside. I've recently have seen the results of that. One of our church council members was having a very rough time and was on edge. I've been praying for him asking for God to open his heart and to guide him. On Monday, I was talking to my pastor and he told me about the change that suddenly has come over this council member. It was a complete turn-around! I was

to hear that my prayers worked that fast and I have been thanking God for the change he had done in this person.
