Boring/Worst Pool

POFQ. It was boring and way too warm when we were there. This is my least favorite resort overall.

The only pool we didn't like was the Treehouse Villa pool. Nothing special about it, and it is surrounded by trees so it is buggy and things are always falling into it.

I am surprised that the THV pool took this long to make the list. While there were no bugs while we were there....it is definitely in the boring categorey....but the upside is that no one ever uses it, so its never crowded.

You can see a picture here, but it doesn't even have a name (like the computer pool) because it has zero theme to it. It is old school rectangular pool....I think it would easily be classified as a "vintage" pool. :rotfl:

Which resorts have the worst pool

ex. overcrowding, boring, not fun

Value, Moderate, Deluxe

The Miller's Road quiet pool at OKW. The guest rooms are right on top of this pool, which is almost industrial in it's lack of ornamentation. Boo!

I think you have to look at the TReehouse pool almost as a quiet pool. Since the THV are part of SSR which has a main pool, a second feature pool in the Grandstand with spray cannons and a pool bar and a third main pool due to be done the end of June, I guess they just decided there were enough pools nearby. But for sure that pool is lackluster!

Totally subjective, but as far as deluxes go, we won't return to the Poly or Contemporary, in the summer, because of the pools.

The volcano pool at the Poly is way too small and overcrowded.
The Contemporary pool is just in the dullest setting with no real shade at all. We actually hated the outside look & feel of the Contemporary (but loved the inside and the room).

In the summer the pool is important to us - our favorite is Stormalong Bay followed by both pools at the Grand and the one at the Wilderness Lodge.

We are going for our first summer trip (I much prefer the winter) but we chose BCV just because of the pool :cool1:

We stayed at POFQ when our kids were small (5 and 3) and the slide was perfect for them then. Now that they are older, probably not.

One poster didn't like WL because of shadiness. We like shadiness at the pool and this would be a plus for us. The main pool is gorgeous, however the slide is short and if that is important to you, you might not like it.

Best pool can be subjective to the age and preferences of the group.

We've only stayed at Pop, so I can't really comment on much but I must say that the computer pool there probably has some stiff competition as the worst pool (as far as themeing goes). Out of all the creative people who work at Disney, they picked a rectangle?!

YBC easily, but not Stormalong. The quiet pools at the resort are so peaceful and relaxing that they're among our favorite locations in all of WDW. SAB is fun, but imho overrated. It's tremendous for what it is, but I don't want all that chaos when it comes to pools.

As much as I love the Polynesian, their pool is so overrated!! It's tiny and gets way too crowded. Even when my kids were younger they didn't care to go in it much.
I think the Wilderness Lodge has a very nice pool.

We've been there for many years now . The bowling ball pool has a 1' edge under water along the outer wall that allows you to sit on it, and rest your head back on the wall to relax. It is very relaxing at night after a long day!

I really never knew the shear panic that clowns caused people until I started reading the Disboards. We love BW pool, hot tub & pool bar. The slide is terrific. Really, it's a clown. What's the big deal?:goodvibes It can get crowded and difficult to find chairs after 2pm but thats why the quiet pool comes in handy.

Pool just needs to be clean and open at the end of the day just to relax and unwind before bedtime.Spend most of the day in the Parks. Me :hmghost: DW :tink: DS :donald: DD :mickeybar

IMHO the worst pool in the "moderate" category is at POFQ - boring tiny slide and little in the way of cool water features.

We think just the opposite. But I guess that would depend on the ages of your kids. Our son is 9 now, so he might prefer some of the other pools now.

DS thought the slide at FQ was great!

While I can see why some people might call the Contemporary pool boring, it's actually one of the best and this is why. If you look at it's design it's shaped like Mickey Mouse ears, so you can't get anymore Disney then that and I don't think any of the other resort pools have that design. Plus they have also added a brand new kids splash play area to their, so it makes the pool area look even better.

I know I'm like the only person ever who didn't like Stormalong Bay, but I want to present the other side. I don't like water over my head, and I was so looking forward to that river part of it. I was so shocked part of it was over 8 feet!! I couldn't even walk from one end to the other of the pool without going under water! And, to ride that slide, you have to leave the poolside and go across a main pathway to climb up to the top. It was just such a disappointment, although I'm sure if I was a 12 year old boy, I would have loved it! :rotfl:

I guess I just want to relax in the pool, as a pp mentioned, but my best Disney pool memories were relaxing in the quiet pool at ASMovies in the evenings.

Just a note about the Treehouse Villas pool...since there are only 60 treehouse units, that they have their "own" pool at all is something :) Note that the mouseplanet link is very out-dated (the pics are from when Disney Institute was still open!)...the pool itself is the same "boring" rectangle, but it has had some lovely improvements...including a squirting frog feature!!! (See pics at allears) (Though it will never compare to SAB.)

Shades of Green has a Mickey ears pool. i know it isn't technically a Disney-run resort anymore though.

my kids like any pool. :thumbsup2

I was just about to say SOG has a mickey shaped pool, that most people seem to think is pretty boring too. :confused3

Any pool is fine with me, I liked the pool at the CR (never crowded when we were there in the middle of the summer, so that was nice), also enjoyed the Poly main pool even though it was usually full/crowded (loved enjoying the pool and watching the fireworks at night or just looking over at the castle from the pool), and I also like SOG pool (not usually crowded and I love that it's deep at points). So I'm not to hard to please when it comes to a pool.
