Boring/Worst Pool

Love this post. I am pretty happy with any Disney pool if it isn't overcrowded. My husband and son are the type to hang out at the pool all day and they just love them so I look for the best ones for them.

Pop.. meh. It was ok. The size was nice, and it was a quiet time of year so the kids had lots of room to themselves.

Poly.. We didn't spend much time at the pool but the weather was beautiful for February so we went twice. I can't imagine how nice it would be to swim and watch the fireworks at night. I love the view and the themeing is cute. But it seems small and I can only imagine how crowded it would be in the summer:confused:

Port Orleans... we went in August. So the pool was a welcome respite from the heat and never seemed too crowded which was nice. Themeing is cute and kids loved the slide.

Coronado Springs.. it gets the edge over the others. Themeing is just great, slide is great, size is great. My six year old would stay at CSR everytime just for the pool.

I have booked OKW for our next trip because I really wanted to try it.. but I know that the boys would LOVE Stormalong Bay and part of me is debating switching resorts and suprising them.

Or maybe back to a mod since we know we love them and the pools. Decisions Decisions.

The volcano pool is the most overcrowded pool (out of the deluxes) that we have experienced. Even when the resort was not crowded the pool always was.

We actually like both pools at GF, we like any of the resort pools that feature the cabanas as they are a nice extra when you are spending a lot of time at the pool.

SAB gets really crowded and I know I know people say Disney is for kids but geesh SAB feels invaded by little ones. It ties with the volcano pool as the worst at WDW for us.

Is there such thing as a bad pool?:confused3 My kids have a blast in our own backyard pool. I could care less as long as there is pool bar within walking distance.

It's got to be the Villas at WL. I know you can go to the real pool at the Lodge, but the one at the villas itself if crazy small. The good thing about it, is that no one is ever there, especially kids, if you want something quite.

Here's a pic. The pool is almost as big as the hot tub.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

We *love* this pool and hot tub because it is so quiet! lol

I was about to vote for CR as the most BORING pool but saw the pic for WL. That does look lame. Is it the only one?

We loved the pool at POR.

Julie yes, there is a very large pool with two more hot tubs. This is a secondary pool that is used mostly by adults and some of the guests at the villas.

To the PP who mentioned AKL pool I agree with you. An amazingly themed, lovely pool. Love the hidden hot tub and as a huge WL fan I have to say that if transportation weren't such a bugger, I would have a very very VERY hard time deciding if I was going to stay at WL or AKL. For me, the buses only option and the distance to everything is a kiler for AKL but otherwise, the resort itself is absolutely freaking awesome! :thumbsup2

Since buying DVC we have only been to KV and the buses are not bad. It takes very little time to get to Epcot and HS, and AK about 20 to MK. We love the slide at Kidani! Hoping to get into BC.

I'm going to agree that a pool is great as long as it has water... but that doesn't answer the thread! :) So as far as the worst pools- for my family- is a crowded pool.

THis is such a good question to ask because you ought to know that when planning a vacation. Some of the pools look great in the travel magazines and websites but when you get there-

I've looked through a good amount of the photo threads and I can see a few pools that are a little tight on elbow room on warm days- Poly Volcano pool, the SAB pool, SSR main pool, POP flower pool. The WL main pool also seems pretty active and I agree that it's not big enough for the number of guests.
ASmu pool looks really busy during activity time, but honestly it looks great and spacious any other time.

I think the most spacious of pools are going to be the more "boring" looking, like the quiet pools and the really big pools like GF, AKL, and CR.

AKL is definately Disney's best resort pool to us, too! It's huge and beautiful!

I think my DDs least favorite pool was WL - the slide is really small and the pool is quite small for the size of the resort.

Didn't care much for this pool as it gets very shady quite early in the evening and cools down quite a bit....love AKL pool, very triopical and great bar.

Maybe it's just me but I loved the CR pool ~ we were there twice last year, in July and again in October and loved it both times....My daughter loved the waterfeature there where she could be a "human" jellyfish and in October the breeze off Bay Lake by the pool was divine :goodvibes

I'm also looking forward to the Keister Coaster at BWI but I do have a bit of a warped mind :confused3

and finally the pool at Carribbean Beach (along with the pirate rooms) is total fun! It also has a supercool children's play area.

I have to say altho I love the Poly, we preferred the quiet pool over the Volcano one but DD was smaller then and I think the Volcano pool overwhelmed her....we need to give it another go since she's bigger!

Sorry if this seems I'm posting a best pools post on a boring pools thread but I had to defend CR pools honor?!

The only pool we didn't like was the Treehouse Villa pool. Nothing special about it, and it is surrounded by trees so it is buggy and things are always falling into it.

I cant remember ever finding any pool on or outside WDW boring. I love to swim and layout, I find it very relaxing..

That being said I have seen one that is absolutely frighting.. BEACH CLUB! That darn clown face is horrific!

The most crowded pool we have seen by far is the volacno pool at the Poly. The main pool at CBR can also get packed, that pool is a nirvana for little kids and they are there in droves. I am probably the only person on the disboards who misses CBR's old main pool design. I love the Hippy Dippy pool but its often packed as is the main pool at All Star Music since it has games and movies. But nothing prepared me for the human traffic in the volcano pool.

Other pools that I think are a tad bit boring: OKW main pool, computer pool at Pop, POFQ pool (the slide is a joke, I swear its ten feet long).

That is not to say we didn't enjoy those pools, but since we have stayed at other resorts and have experienced their pools, those felt a bit lacking to us.

We found the pools at the Polynesian the worst, Volcano pool is too small and the quiet pool is out of the 1960's.

I have to admit, the worst pools are the ones with no slide (values) or the ones with really slow/short slides (i.e. POFQ)... i love riding down them! lol

My experience is limited, but of the resorts I have stayed at, the pool at POFQ is a kiddie pool (the slide is really short and boring). CSR has a MUCH better pool. It's nice and big with a cool pyramid and a nice, long, fast slide.

I would have to say the Value Resorts have the most boring pools since they're your basic pool. Yes, they're in unique shapes and are themed, but they're small and very crowded. My kids also prefer pools with slides and I love the hot tubs at the Moderate or Deluxe Resorts.
