booster seats

I am interested in this answer as well. We will be taking our 2 1/2 year old in October and were wondering this same question.

No. If you look on the seat it does not have a sticker stating it is approved for air travel, so the flight attendants will not let in on the plane. We always end up gate checking ours because there is no way i could get it into a suitcase. The booster seats are meant to be used with a shoulder belt which airplanes do not have.

You can bring them on as carry on's and stow for convenience and use at your destination but the kids can't sit in them on the aircraft. Booster seats (or any CRS without an integrated harness and an FAA sticker) are not approved for airline travel. If you want to use a CRS on the aircraft check for a sticker on the back indicating it can be used onboard, the FA's will!

The FAA and AAP recommend a child use a CRS on the aircraft until at least 40lbs and 40".

If a child meets the height/weight requirement for a backless booster then they meet the height/weight requirement not to need a CRS on the airplane.

The backless booster seat is for use by children between 4-10yo, 40-110lbs and between 40 - 57" so a child who meets the recommendation for a booster wouldn't need one on the aircraft.

Here are two great sites for info on airtravel and CRS use with children:
