Wondering which book(s) are a must have for planning a trip. A friend of mine told me about one, but couldn't remember the name. I know someone here can help!! :earsboy:

Thanks!

Birnbaum's is the Official Guide but it really only looks at the happy side of disney. I get it for the great pictures.

The Unofficial Guide has a lot of great information and tips. Passporter is good, although it doesn't have as much info as the Unofficial Guide, it has some handy dandy little pockets. You can take it with you and write in it every day so you have a journal of your trip and put tickets, etc. in the pockets.

WDW for Kids by Kids is great for (guess who?) kids!

Have a great time planning.

Hollyjoy...I love Birnbaum's Walt Disney World 2004...it has great tips, and lots of info!!!!!

I will make it to a bookstore in the near future and check them out.!

I have to vote against Birnbaum's - lots of fluff without very much useful info. I think most folks would agree that the Unofficial Guide' is the most complete all-around guide. The Passporter comes in second and is a good organizer for the trip. I checked out a bunch of different books from the library, then ended up buying the Unofficial Guide and the Passporter.

I bought Walt Disney World with Kids. It's got a lot of specific info about age-appropriateness, etc. and also includes info on Universal and Disney Cruises. I've never read the Unofficial Guide, so I don't know how it compares, but I liked WDW with Kids better than Birnbaum's. Have fun!!:D

I vote for the Unofficial Guide to WDW by Bob Sehlinger and company.....an enormous amount of info with a sly sense of humor :jester:

My vote goes to the Passporter- LOVE IT!

Second goes to Unofficial Guide, but I always buy Birnbaum's as well- I like the pictures, what can I say!

The Unofficial Guide takes the cake!!

I pretty much planned my entire trip using the Disboards, and www.wdwig.com.

I ahve also heard good things about the Birmbaun book for kids & the Unnoficial Guide.

I vote for the Unofficial Guide and Passporter. I always buy them both. The UG has a lot more detailed information, but the passporter is a handy place to record PS confirmation numbers and times, as well as flight and resort info.

The Unofficial guide is our bible whenever we make a trip. We go every 3-4 years and buy the newest edition each time. There are frank discussions of every ride, attraction, show, restaurant, and hotel. It also includes lots of great info on getting in and out of Orlando and what else there is to do. Also, they are brutally honest when something isn't right. While WDW is the most magical place for a vacation, it is not perfect. It helps to know how to avoid any potential potholes that can dampen your enthusiasm.

I vote for Fodor's - it has everything you need to know about Disney, Universal/IOA and beyond. We used it to plan our 11 day vacation to Disney (we may visit Universal one of those days:)

I just received my 2004 Passporter and retired my 2001 issue. It gives me a place to put all my information (hotel, airline and rental car info) as well as endless information. I also love the color park maps they have put in.
