Hi!

I'm not headed to Disney World until mid August 2020, but want to get at least a room reserved so that we can get the resort we want. I have two options: August 13-22 or August 20-29. I am a teacher and I won't know for quite a while when school will start NEXT school year. I always like to go on a trip right before going back to school so the 20-29 would be the ideal trip. There is the possibility that we will start school earlier next year making the earlier trip dates the only option. So.... can I book a resort right now for the whole length of time August 13-29 and then change the dates to exactly what I want when I know exactly when I can go? This would be a 17 night reservation. Is that even allowed? Would it be better/allowed to make to different reservations (that overlap) and then cancel one? I do feel guilting reserving rooms for a length of time that is longer than I need, but I don't want to miss out by waiting too long to book. One last question... how long before the trip do I have to cancel and get a full refund should I do either of these options?

If you book two reservations room only you have until 5 days before to get the deposit (one night's room and tax) back. If you book two packages you have until 30 days out to cancel and get the deposit ($200) back. I would probably book two separate reservations personally

I agree two reservations would be easier, then you can just cancel the one you don't need. With one long reservation, it can be a hassle to shorten a reservation. Depending on availability it may require a call to customer service who then has to consult guest services.
