Booking with WL, question about rate that I was quoted...

I just thought I'd throw this out there, before I called the agent back tomorrow to ask...

I am booking our room (my wife, 6 year old daughter, and I) for Oct 2-9, at WL. Just going with the standard view. We are using our AAA membership to get the discount on the room. I received the quote back from the travel agent today, and it shows the 7-night stay at a cost of $1865, less a $546 AAA discount, for a total of $1319. That sounded pretty good, but in double checking, I ran the quote on Disney's website, and the room comes up at $1553. Just wondering if the room price starts a little higher when they know you are using a AAA discount, or if something is not right, and our discount should be coming off off the $1553 starting point instead of the $1865.

Can anybody offer some insight? I am, by no means, a travel expert. just want to make sure with all of the glitches lately, that I am getting the correct rate.

Thanks,
Andy

Did the Disney quote include taxes.

I would call Central Reservations at 1-407-WDISNEY and see what they say. You can tell them you have AAA and compare from that point. Good luck.

Andy,

I just booked a room only at WL for almost the exact same time -- Oct. 1-8. I was quoted the same price as you were. $1,319 for all seven nights, $169 plus tax per night. My one night's deposit (room plus tax) will be $188. I booked this on the phone this morning through Disney. Hope this helps!

The website says it does, unless there are some other taxes or something that it doesn't include. From the website (we did not select any special room options):

"† Offered room rates include tax, but do not include any costs for selected room options."

I booked a room at the WL in Sept 04 and got a courtyard for 134 a night
check this link for pricing

www.allearsnet.com

click on accomadations and then WL and they have a full price listing of rooms and it peak or value

Cara, did you use a AAA discount?

I'm sorry! Yes, I used a AAA discount. I will watch mousesavers when it is closer to October to try to get a better rate.

Okay, looks like I got the right rate then. Maybe she just goofed the regulare rates, or maybe they are inflated to make you think you got a better discount, who knows. Bottom line I guess, is that we did save a couple hundred using AAA. I'll be watching for better deals as well.

Maybe we'll see you there! Long wait though...

Thanks,
Andy

asaj, we've gone three time during that time of year. Usually we make a AAA discount ressie to start with. Your rate sounds pretty close. However, we've always gotten a better code price (in July/August) that blows the AAA quote out of the water. AAA is normally around 10-15% off rack while a good code is around 40%.

The reason I mention this is to be sure you can change rates if a code price comes out. If you book through a TA, you might be stuck with their price or pay a penalty if a better deal comes out. Unless, of course, it's Dreams Unlimited, I hear they're great at getting good codes prices.

Just curious....what is the percentage of your AAA discount. $546 seems like a big discount to me. :confused3 I may just go join AAA. I booked WL standard view today for first week of Dec on Travelocity. The rate was $199 per night.
There was no area where I could have put in for a AAA discount so I guess if I were to use one I would have to either show my card at check in or call Travelocity.

I am heading to WL in 38 days!!! We got an AP rate that came out to almost 1500 for 2 rooms. I am not sure what season Feb is, though, that might make a difference.

I am going through Small World Vacations, used them once back in 2003, and they are also good with getting the code prices. Just out of curiosity, do these codes normally show up on websites, or are they always emailed out?

Thanks for the info.

Yeah, the $546 seems inflated for some reason, which was why I posted this thread. Seems like the "real" discount is more like $200, if you go from the starting price that the disney site gives. My wife's mom gets us the AAA membership every year for Christmas, this may actually be the first time we have used it for anything, but I guess it's nice to have. Anyway, any discount is better than none, so I'll start with the AAA and keep my eyes open for a better deal between now and then.

Usually, the "buzz" startes a week or so early on this board. Then the day before more and more posts about it. Then the night before or very early morning, Mousesavers.com will have the details. So, just keep checking--eventually something will pop up.

Don't look for Disney to send you anything about them. They are more than happy to let you pay for the rate you booked.

I got the same 169 rate (AAA) for Sept. 25-30. It must be right. I plan on checking for codes and applying them as they come out. --H

For the record, AAA discount is 15% value season, 10% regular and peak. All AAA percentages are listed at Mousesavers.
