Hi! I'm attempting to find the cheapest combination of flights from Calgary, canada down to Orlando, and was wondering if anyome had booked through expedia or travelocity or any other such websites? I've heard some bad stories that say just to use the site to check the airlines, then try & book those flights. So, what's your opinion?

When book on these online sites, you are booking with an online travel agency. It's easier to deal with changes and problems directly with the airline without having to go through a third party.

Dealing with a TA (a good WDW TA!) for assistance with your entire trip to the world is one thing, and for lots of people is the right way to go. But using one just for an airline ticket adds a third party to the transaction. The ticket price is not going to be any different, best to go directly to the airline's site.

If you do see a lower price with the online agencies, or a combination of airlines (which you can do yourself too), dollars to donuts when you go to check out you get a message that "your fare has changed". This happens because some online agencies don't update constantly, you may be looking at old inventory that sold out a few minutes ago.

Alright, thanks!
I have checked out various sites & finally gotten my flights arranged, and whittled down a good $200.00. I def. don't need a Disney TA, as I'll only really be there for 1 day  I just wasn't sure on how those sites worked!

To answer your question, I have booked a few times using Expedia. It has always been on a flight/hotel package to Las Vegas.

That said, I always try to book directly with the airline, but in those cases, it was way cheaper to use Expedia. The particular airline was Sun Country and I was able to call my itinerary up directly on their site to choose my seats, check in, and pay for baggage....

I would prefer to book with the airline directly, but have had no problems using Expedia and would use them again if they offered my the best pricing.....

Sob stories about Expedia, Orbitz, etc. still abound.

If the airline's own site does not show the same low fare and Expedia, etc. does not suddenly say "that fare has changed" then you may have gotten seats from a block pre-purchased at a discount by Expedia, etc. for resale at its leisure. Should the airline make a schedule change, then Expedia, etc. hates like hell to have to "go outside the box" and book you your choice of alternate flight that is not within their pre-purchased blocks.

I used Expedia once, and never will again. When we went to WDW in 2009, I used them to book for our party of 7. Their site does not let you book a number that large. When I called Expedia to try and do it over the phone, they told me to go on their website and book a reservation for 3 and then a reservation for 4. I did that, but closer to our departure, got an email that one of our reservations had been changed, but the other had not. I called them to try and straighten it out, but they told me because I had bought non-exchangeable tickets, there was nothing they could do unless I paid a $150 change fee per ticket.

I called Delta, and they were able to straighten it out without a problem, and then linked the reservations so it wouldn't happen again. I understand Expedia was well within their rights in the fine print, but since I followed their instructions to make a larger reservation, a little help would have gone a long way.

Anyone know how

er,

Could someone tell me how to get to Expedia's terms and conditions e.g. contract of carriage?

(My) not being able to find the terms and conditions within 5 minutes is another reason not to use them.
