If I book a room with my Disney Visa Chase card, do I automatically get the 6-months no interest?
Am I required to do it on the phone so they can say "no interest" in their system or does the credit card company do it automatically?
Does it have to be a promotion through Chase or is it any room I book?
Is there a minimum $ amount I have to charge?
Do you still have a minimum payment you make each month?

It has to be a “package” - not just a room. A package is typically room+tickets, room+tickets+dining or room+dining.

I believe minimum payment must be $100, but since package deposit is $200 that shouldn’t be a concern.

You can call or book online, the credit card will recognize the vendor automatically. As long as it is booked through Disney (or a TA booking through Disney) and not an online site like Priceline, Orbitz, Expedia, etc. who sell blocks of rooms.

Enjoy your vacation!

I just called them a few days ago to inquire about this. They were awesome at answering my questions. It was not my understanding that you had to book a package but I would call and ask. The 0% is for 6 months I believe on the trip. Don’t know about minimum payment. Seems to me, it would be required just as any charge but it’s usually so minimal.

I booked with DReams Unlimited and my deposit was automatically recognized as a zero percent charge.

Chase was very helpful. Give them a call. FYI, we recently upgraded to the preferred Disney card because we go in December and I am trying to bank points like crazy. I wanted 2% on gas, grocery and Disney purchases - INCLUDING my trip expense (room, tickets, etc). That’s a decent chunk of points.

Also, I was told that your points are applied when you make the charge, not when you pay. So that’s awesome too. I’ll pay final 30 days before we leave to allow time for them to process those points before we arrive. “Free Dinners” lol.

Any $200+ purchase processed as a WDTC charge gets 6 months no interest. You can have multiple promo interest charges at a time. It is very nice that you can pay off package and use those rewards while at Disney.

Please note. Any credit refunds for any reason apply to the oldest promo charge and not current charges. Example. 4/1 you pay $200 deposit for package. All of April and May you add daily purchases to card. A restaurant charges you incorrectly, so they run a $20 credit. The $20 credit is applied to 4/1 promo purchase and not the corresponding restaurant charge. You now only owe $180 for 4/1 promo, but you still need to pay that $20 incurred during May billing cycle to not be charged interest.

Also, Chase sent out a notice recently. You must pay 1% of promo balances each month, or you will be charged interest for any new purchases starting the day of purchase. New policy starts either September or October. They said bill will show the amount you must pay for no interest charge.

ETA: WDTC is Walt Disney Travel Company. Walt Disney World packages are billed to WDTC. Disneyland packages and cruises are also subject to 6 month no interest as well as DVC direct point purchases. I believe Disneyland packages and DCL cruises are still sold by WDTC, but I have never done one. I forget the entity for DVC purchases.

Isn’t that a fee card?

Isn’t that a fee card?
$49 annual fee for Premier Visa. I saved more than that with dining discounts on a quick 3 night 2 park day trip in January. It has more than paid for itself the last 2 years with 4 trips to WDW. It is not such a wise purchase if you do not use perks.

I concur. If you have the regular card now, and upgrade, they waive the fee for the first year.

For my family it works. We don’t go Disney every year, but we keep the card for points. We select when to use it, if we feel like a trip might come up in the future, we plan accordingly. None of our other cards are fee cards.

We also use a great cash back point card, and use that when we know we have nothing in the works for Disney. But when my kids were young, we used the Disney card almost exclusively because we knew it would benefit us.

Biggest bonus is, your points doing expire UNTIL THE MOMENT YOU TRANFER THEM TO A DISNEY POINT/REWARD CARD, or whatever they call it.

So, we let it be in the background. Use it on occasion, and randomly rack up points. But it’s now August, I know I have a December trip planned. I will only charge things on the Disney card until my trip is over. Then we start using our cash back rewards card hard.

Make sense? It also helps us in accumulating points that we pay off almost all of the balance each month. I don’t use cash. I work that point system hard.

See above. I haven’t learned how to reply to two people in one post yet. 🤗

Correct. It must process as WDTC to qualify for the financing offer. "Packages" qualify. Room-only reservations do not process this way, neither do stand-alone tickets, nor on-site charges (resort, restaurants, shops, etc.). @KyleAfterAWhile specifically asked about booking a room with no mention of a package.

You've got that backwards. Points left in your Chase account expire 5 years after they post. Once you transfer the points to a Rewards Redemption Card, there is no expiration.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thanks for catching that. 😳. I did have it backwards!

Whenever I've used the perk, I've booked online. The perk also applies to Disney cruise line payments as well...that was a pleasant surprise.

Your reward dollars show up at the end of your statement cycle, not immediately.

Took advantage of this for DVC purchase (with the funds sitting in my checking account.) Showed up as "Disney Vacation Develop." My sales agent told me about this so I applied from the Disney World website, got a $250 statement credit, Chase overnighted the card so I could pay for the DVC points, and now I should get another $200 in reward dollars.

Now, THAT’S what I’m talkin’ about!! :cheer2:

My dad has put automobiles on his Amex for points in the past. 😆
