Has anyone ever booked a villa through Virgin holidays? What was it like??

We were looking at the Lindfields Reserve (purely because it is gated and seems to be the closest they offer to Disney).

As long as the accomodation is clean i'm not too bothered, but our priority is a nice pool for our son, and also the travelling to the disney parks (we aren't doing universal so thats not a concern).

Thanks alot for any help.

Hi.....best thing to do is book direct with an owner and D-I-Y your flights and car, with going through tour operators you often get allocation on arrival and not the villa you think you have. Give me a shout if you want help..

Hi, I would say the same..... book D-I-Y, i used Virgin in 2005 for a villa even thou the villa was great, the location was miles away from disney..... so last yr i used Kendwood Travel 4 my booking 4 2 villas..... 12 adults, 7 kids and 3 mini vans, they under cutt virgin by about 250 per head which was a great saving......This year ive gone to the villa onwer direct and saved even more money :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: So my advice DO IT YOURSELF.... If u want a great villa location rite close to disney Windsor palms resort or Windosr Hills, good car hire company Airline Network...4 flights look around.... good luck feel free to drop me a line if u want anymore info.....:cheer2:

This year Virgin are offering specific locations for their villas (but not specific villas). Friends of ours have also booked Lindfields reserve through Virgin - but they don't go until August so I can't give you any feedback.
From a map it looks like a good location for the Disney parks.

Agree with the other posters - the Virgin villas always work out more expensive than booking direct with the owner. We have booked DIY villa hoildays this way, still with VA flights. for the last two years and will doing so again next year.

I would also agree with the other posters - booking with an owner direct is sure to work out cheaper and you know exactly which property you are staying in. Look for one with plenty of photos and possibly a 360 tour so that you can have a good look round the house and resort.

We have previously booked fly-drive via Virgin holidays (which included the discounted flights from Belfast - a great saving :thumbsup2 ) and then booked villas directly with the owners. Some villas are better than others - our first one was nicer than the second (different areas) but I must admit paying the little extra makes the holiday nicer - cheapest is not always best! Now that we know exactly what we want we decided to buy a property - and I can't wait to get out to it :yay:

The site that the Americans tend to use is www.vrbo.com - bit old style but it you go to Kissimmee you will have hundreds of options.

Hi again everyone, I'm finally resigned (after seeing virgins new prices) that you are all right and I need to DIY it!!!

I've always done things through Virgin in the past, and for the sense of security I was going to go with them again, but I really can't see how they can justify their prices!!

Anyway, I think I've said before I will be travelling with our two children for the first time and am quite nervous, so I really want to book a villa that someone can personally recommend.

My only real criteria is that it needs to be as close as possible to Disney, very clean and a great pool (ideally with dining table etc out by the pool area)
- a gated community with a childrens playground would be nice but not essential.

Any help (and any photos!!) would be greatly appreciated. Should have listened to you all before!!!

Hi,

Personally I would choose to stay in Kissimmee, where you are close to supermarkets, restaurants, Disney and the I4.

Whilst there are developments that are probably slightly better I feel that Indian Creek is a great location and offers possibly better value for money than others in the area.
Homes are fairly new and very nice.

If you get a south facing one and a private secluded pool then you are sorted, this is the 5 bedroomed home we are staying in next year - I am sure if you mention my name they would consider offering you a fair price.
It has everything you could need and will be our second stay there.

Any questions feel free to pm me

Hi ya,

I was to like ur self using virgin hols as peace of mind , then i discovered a site call kenwood travel , they only use virgin planes and dollar cars so its the same as a virgin holiday but without the extra costs.... whwen i last travelled with my kids Aug 2006 there ages were 18months and 3 yrs old. the villa i hired was no more than a 10 min3 miles drive from disney... The place we stayed at was call the windsor palms resort, which is a small, quiet, gated community with onsite security 24/7. had it all on site shop, pool, club house , cinema, loved the place so much im going back in aug 2007.......D.I.Y is then only way from now.... its easy and its safe ,so enjoy...anymore info just drop me a line

Hi there,

Just be aware that if you do go to Lindfields you understand that it's not gated!

It has an entrance facade by the 192 but no gate like say Sunset Lakes.

Having said that I've stayed there and its a great location. Good mix of both rental and residential properties gives a good feel.

We stayed at Lindfields on our 1st visit back in 2001. It is one of the older communities but we had a beautiful villa with a great pool. There is on site management there who were very helpful. Though we did have a problem when we got there that couldn't be sorted till the next morning. we found we were short of one bed!

Saying that we were allocated on arrival & were lucky. I wouldn't do it again.

On our last visit we booked the villa through a recommended company & knew exactly which villa we were staying in. Would go that way again.
