As I am just joining DVC and starting our planning, I've got a quick question. I know booking a 2BR unit is harder, especially at peak times, but are you allowed to book two rooms - say a 1BR and a studio - at the same time? I know some of the 2BRs are really just 1BR+studio connecting, but the connecting part isn't a big deal (in laws... :) )

I wouldn't think it is an issue, but you never know...

Booking 2 rooms at one time is allowed. In fact, sometimes it works best especially if you are travelling with another family/friends that have different personalities or habits (early risers vs. late risers, etc).

Yes you can. I booked 2 2br units at SSR in April. One for my family and one for my sister's family.

We've done that a number of times. For us, it's also point-cost efficient since our adult kids aren't able to take as long a vacation as we can. This way, we can book their room for however long they need and not have to choose between "paying" for an empty space or moving to a smaller unit to not waste those extra points.:thumbsup2

Try booking a 2 bedroom lock-off at OKW. It is kind of the best of both worlds. The studio portion will have two real queen beds, yet have a separate entrance and small private balcony. That way the occupants of each side can come & go as they please without disturbing the other room. :)

Or a two bedroom lockoff at any of the other resorts - if the second bed isn't a big deal. The couch can be nice for a couple - you don't have that extra bed.

Two bedrooms and studios are harder to book than one bedrooms - but harder really isn't that hard - unless you are looking at reservations just a few months out or looking at one of the really prime times. Even after the seven month window opens - most resorts will have some availability most of the time - for a few weeks at least (now, getting that standard view room at the Boardwalk might be a little harder). When you start getting five months, four months, three months from your trip, availability really tightens.
