First time booking a private tour and wondering what time to schedule pickup at the ship if ashore time is 8:30am? I understand DCL excursions get off the ship first. Does that take a while?

Nawiliwili, Kauai for starters. I was thinking of it as a more general question since I guess there's there's no recent data. And thanks!

Generally, if the ship is docked, both ship's tours and people not doing any excursions can get off at the same time. The ship's tours will usually have one gangway for them, and every one else has another one.

If the port is a tender port, the ship's excursions get priority on the tenders, and everyone else will be issued boarding tickets (in the order your whole party shows up at the boarding gathering location). If a tender with a ship's excursion has space on it after the excursions needing to get off the ship at that time, they load the people with boarding tickets. Once all the ship's excursions are off, and all other people holding boarding tickets have boarded a tender, then it's first come-first served on the tenders.
