booking through orbitz

i've read messages here that some people book through orbitz, and they are able to get good sales, etc.

if you do that, can you still get the "perks" of staying in a disney hotel? 180 day ADR's, 60 day FP, etc?

can you link your park tix with your rez?

would love to hear your experiences...

Yes, all the perks. It's still a reservation with WDW. The same as booking through a travel agent. I believe you get the WDW reservation number from Orbitz and then link it in MDE.

I've been checking their rates for next year and they are very good as compared to rack rate through Disney directly. Anywhere from 10-20%

I made my first reservation with Orbitz a few weeks ago for our upcoming February stay at Grand Floridian. As pp said, yes you still get all the perks because it is still a reservation with Disney. I got my hotel confirmation number from Orbitz and plugged it into MDE, no problem. I even cancelled the original reservation and rebooked again for the same trip through Orbitz because a better deal came up with one of their deal codes.

One thing that may not be doable for some people is that you have to pay for the entire stay at booking, compared to booking through Disney you only have to pay a deposit.

I book room only reservations, but from what I have read, you can't get a package with tickets and dining through Orbitz. I think Orbitz does sell tickets, but I have an AP, so I didn't pay too much attention to tickets.

Orbitz has the same rates as Disney's website, including the "room only" discounts. They also nearly always has promo codes you can use for an additional 15% off. I've used them for my last few trips and had no problems.

I believe the way it works is Orbitz books from a separate block of rooms than Disney...so sometimes there won't be rooms available at Disney's website but they will be available on Orbitz.

I have used Orbitz and other travel sites a few times. There can be significant savings at times, other times not so much.

Once you make the reservation with orbitz you will need to call them to get the Disney Resv. # Depending on the agent they may not know what you need. the conf # I believe is 12 digits (numbers only). If Orbitz gives you something else it won't work.

I used the hotel confirmation number that I received in my Orbitz confirmation email and linked the reservation in MDE. Easy. I didn't have to call anyone.

The next day I received an email from Disney Destinations with their confirmation number, but I had already linked the reservation in MDE.

Oh, you do have to go into MDE and change the mailing address for your magic bands for the reservation that you made through Orbitz, otherwise Orbitz will get your magic bands.
