Hi all! Getting ready to book a pre-cruise resort stay for myself, my sister's family, and my dad (so 3 separate rooms). I don't care so much about requesting adjoining or connecting rooms, but I do want to be able to manage the reservations for everyone if possible. By that I mean, book them and still have the ability to adjust them if a discount is available as we get closer to our stay. Is that something I can do? Or if I book the other two rooms under my sister and dad's names, will they be the only ones able to make changes to their reservation?

Thanks in advance!

Is your sister, everyone in her family, and your dad, on your friends and family list in your My Disney Experience account? If so, yes you can make the room reservations online and manage them online. You will have to book each room separately but when you do the other two rooms, change the lead guest so that one is your sister and the other is your dad. It will initially have you filled in as lead guest but use the drop down menu to change it. Be sure to include everyone else who is traveling with you in the appropriate room.

Perfect! So even when I put my sister and dad as lead guest on their separate rooms (along with their guests), the reservations will still show in My Plans on MDE and I'll be able to modify all 3 room reservations as needed?

Are you friends & family with them?

If you want to be able to have the ability to manage the three rooms financially, then you could book a multi-room reservation. You have to call Disney to make the reservation. A multi-room reservation puts all three rooms under one reservation number which you could then totally manage. You would add your family members to the reservation using their MDE profiles so that they will see everything.

Apologies if this amounts to thread hijacking, but does one have to be the lead guest on a WDW resort reservation in order to request changes?

I'm asking because I'm not the lead guest on an upcoming reservation--but the lead guest and I are on each other's friends and family lists--and it would be so much easier if I were able to call and make the change we want, since the lead guest (my sister) would prefer not to have to call,

BTW, we're trying to get two consecutive reservations at the same resort in the same room category linked. My sister already tried once and the CM told her it was impossible!

I think I have been able to call Disney reservations and have them apply the AP discount to my sister's room.

Following as I booked 2 BB rooms and I was also told they can't be linked. The CM put in a request that the rooms be near each other but he said he would have to transfer me to ask about linking. I didn't do it since I hate talking on the phone to Disney.

Just to clarify, when I was talking about linking two reservations, I meant that we had two consecutive reservations--one at the BB rate and the last night at rack, since we weren't able to get it at BB. But it's for one stay in one room for the same occupants, not two different occupants in two different rooms. If that's clear, which maybe it isn't!

ok I was talking about same hotel, two reservations but traveling together. CM I talked to didn't know if it could be done.

If it helps, I had this same situation for a recent stay at CBR. Got a great rate through a Disney visa discount for 3 nights, but then decided to add a 4th night when the discount wasn't available so I couldn't just extend my first reservation. I made a separate reservation for the 4th night in a different room type (king bed instead of 5th sleeper) and lo and behold when we checked in our first night, we were given the king room for all 4 nights of our stay and never had to switch rooms! I did still go to the front desk to make sure we didn't need to change rooms or do anything to check in and out for that 4th night and they assured me I was all set and that they would do the necessary check out/in behind the scenes for us. Obviously this is not a guarantee that it would go this way for you, but definitely worth asking at the front desk when you check in!

Yes, we know to ask at the front desk. I had a trip last year when I booked an extra night while I was there since I was trying to avoid a major snowstorm at home (turned out it wasn't necessary, but I got an extra day at WDW!) and they let me stay in the same room. From what I understand, it is possible to have the reservations linked by talking to someone before arrival, although I'd check with the front desk when I checked in anyway.

I was just trying to find out if I myself could call WDW and ask to have the reservations linked or if my sister, who's the lead on the reservation, had to do it.

Just a quick follow up to say I was able to book the rooms for my sister and dad, and they are both showing up in My plans in MDE as well as on their plans. I still have the ability to make changes as needed, so everything seems to have worked out as I hoped. Thanks for the help!
