Booking question for Jan, 2013

Hi there,

I am not too sure where to post this question, so mods, please move if needed.

My wife and I are considering a family trip to Disney in Jan. We have discussed with the kids (11 and 8 boys) that we would have to scale Christmas back in order to do so.

The Disney site only letys you book up to New years as of right now.

I am wondering this....we are looking at going to last week of Jan/13 (a break from the Ontario winter). I am assuming that the rates would go down after the Christmas break, and all the kids are back to school.

Is this accurate? Can I expect a bit of a break at that time?

My last trip 3 years ago, this site was invaluable in helping me plan and book. I am sure I will be here a lot until my trip.

2013 rates should be released shortly. It's usually right after a ticket price increase.

Congrats, on going to Disney in 2013 !!! I am going in Feb 2013. The good news is that you can book a room only RIGHT NOW !!!!!! I just booked our romm only reservation 2 days ago. We did this to make sure we had the room we wanted we are staying at the wilderness lodge in a bunk bed room !! Package rates should be relaesed later on this month. But at least we have our room. We will only convert to a package if they are offering an specials like free dinning. I hoping for room discount of 30 % off... The dinning is a good deal but my family really doesnt like sitting down every night for a meal, we are quick service people and dont often eat dessert with every meal. We should know about discounts and special offers this fall. My advice if you are trying to get a special room book the room now, if not just wait a couple of week for the packages to come out. To answer you ther question yes Jan is cheaper, but beware there is the Marathon week and MLK jr week that it does get a little busier and little but pricer. My advice stick to the last 2 week of jan or go in Feb before Presidents day .

I can't recall the website - all ears maybe? - but there is one that lists all of the historical discount information for different dates of the year. Free dining or room discounts are common in January (though there may be some black out dates). Google around to find that site for reference. We got great rates last last January (2010, I think? or maybe it was 2011). We are going back this coming January as well. I have not yet called to book - will wait until next week in case "real" rates are released then. Whatever quote they give you over the phone is based on the highest rack rate and will be much higher than what you would really pay for off-season.
