I was fooling around with some quotes but didn't see a place where you can put a discount code in. Is it possible to book online with a discount or do you have to call?

You have to click the special offers area. Each discount has its own, separate booking engine.

The codes are only for folks on the phone. Here's some links to the current offers:

Fall/Winter Broad Offer: 25% off value resorts and Animal Kingdom Lodge, 30% off moderate resorts and the Grand Floridian, 40% off deluxe and deluxe villa resorts (except for Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Grand Floridian)

Free Dining Offer

Gift Card Offer: Gift Card to be issued at Check In, $200 for value resorts, $300 for moderate resorts, $500 for deluxe and deluxe villa resorts

Generally speaking, IMO, you are better off booking over the phone. The terms are slightly different and slightly better.

That said, it's always wise to price things out exactly as you want them online - so you know what the trip is going to cost. Make certain every detail is the way you want, as any variation will alter the cost: the exact ticket features, trip insurance, dates, number of guests. Every time you change somethign slightly, the website often reverts back to it's default settings, so it cna be a pain.

And every time you call there's a preposterously long phone tree on your dime you have to navigate, and a request to participate in a survey (remember it's all on your dime). And you have to call between 7am and 10pm EST. Also, not all agents are created equal; some even have outdated info.

But I still think it's worth it to book via a live person. Within about 24hours of booking, you should get a confirmation email (usually within an hour), and you can check that all is perfect.

This used to be the case, but Disney has made a lot of changes to their online systems. Booking terms and conditions are now the same for reservations booked online as well as over the phone.

If you reserve one of their room only offers here is another difference between booking online or over the phone with a Cast Member. Online you have no choice to pay the 1st night deposit, however when booking over the phone with a Cast Member you can pay the 1st deposit right away or choose to pay it 7 days later.

This is no longer true. Online or by phone are the same. I prefer online and cringe anytime I have to call as their phone system is a nightmare and not all of the reservation CMs are knowledgeable.
