My family is joining us on a trip but my wife and I are going a day early. Do we have to book seperate vacations or can we book the first night (studio) and the following 2 nights (2 bedroom lockoff) in the same reservation?

Each is a separate reservation and each is subject to the appropriate booking window.

I wonder if there is a way to request the studio you are going to stay in the first night be part of the lock off the next 2? In theory it would work if someone has a 1 bedroom for only the night you have the studio. This would be so you didn't have officially checkout of the studio and leave your stuff in there until you can check into the lock off.

Might be a perfect time to take advantage of the deluxe dining plan for the first night.

I was able to do this and it was very nice. Call MS and explain what you want to do. It still wouldn't be guaranteed but it is to their advantage to let you stay, if it will work.
