Booking onboard and Costco

I think overall the Costco incentives are excellent, but on the downside, there is a fee (I think it is $25) if you want to change certain things once you have made the initial reservation. I am pretty sure that adjusting the cost if the price goes down is one thing that Costco would charge the fee for -- does anyone know for sure what changes would trigger the fee?

First of all it is for down grade changes but they will allow you to do it one time free of charge. No charge for cancelations.

So the obvious benefit is the cash card. My next question is, what is it that Costco gets out of you switching to them after its already booked? What incentive do they have?

Costco still gets a commission from DCL for transferred bookings, although my understanding is that it is a lower amount. Another nice thing about Costco is that they still give you the full cash card amount, while many TAs reduce their incentive amount for transferred reservations.

I just spent 30 minutes on the phone with Costco TA. We are booking 2 cabins, one is accessible and a transfer from an OBB reservation. He was unable to get through to Disney, so I booked everything online and placed it on 4 day hold, which Disney allows. He said he would be able to pull it up online and transfer the OBB once he gets a Disney rep on the phone.

He said once he gets through to Disney, he'll call me back to finalize everything.

So I just booked the 11 night Norway/Iceland and put it on hold..I have 4 days to pay. If I want to transfer to Costco, who do I contact and who do I pay? Sorry I am feeling a bit oblivious!

Contact Costco to get the form required to transfer the reservation to them.

But, with just a 4-day hold and the weekend (that's 4 calendar days, not business days), I wouldn't count on the paperwork to go through before the payment is due. Possibly, but that's too close for my comfort. So I suggest making the deposit on your own. After that, any payments will be made through Costco.

Enjoy your cruise!

so here's a weird question:

booked the 11 night Norway/Iceland yesterday. I must pay the deposit by Saturday. I will pay Disney the deposit but might want to switch to Costco. From what I have read I have 30 days, after yesterday, to do this....

but....

I cruise this July and wanted to see if I could book the same reservation for next year with an on board credit and 10% discount. Then transfer yesterdays reservation to that one...I know the price may go up but with the 10% rebooking it could work out?

If I have already moved it to Costco, because of the 30 day thing, is this still possible?

I have used Costco once, Fantasy Maiden, but booked directly with them. The Costco card could not be cashed in and had to be used at Costco. If you use the American Express connected with Costco I believe you also get 1% back I think...can't remember...there might also be a rebate if you have an executive membership but don't know for sure.

Yes, you can re-shop onboard even though a TA holds the original. The TA may need to reconcile the two reservations if DCL can't (seems to depend on the future bookings CM), but yes you most certainly can re-shop to see if the OBB improves your cost.

Enjoy your cruise!

You clearly have read my mind. I'm wondering about the exact same thing. I'm traveling on the Fantasy this July also.

I'm currently transferring an OBB from 10/2014 to 7/2015 via Costco, but need an adjoining room. If I book the adjoining room through Costco, will the OBB agent on ship be able to cancel that reservation and rebook it with a new 10% discount? I guess the alternative would doing this the first day while still in port and calling Costco Travel to release that room while at the OBB desk.

Thanks so much!
I can't wait! Now I have to figure out how to contain myself so I don't tell the kids too early...
