Booking on use year changeover

Say I have an October use year and book a night for September 30 2007 - does that use 2006 points or 2007 points? I know I can't book that night until October 1st - I am just not sure if that means it uses 2007 points.

Sept 30 should book with 2006 points (or borrowed 2007 points). Oct 1 books with 2007 points.

I may be reading your post incorrectly, but your UY has nothing to do with when you can book. It sounds like you think you have to wait until your UY starts to book anything with that UY's points.

You can always book 11 months in advance at home resort or 7 months in advance at all others as long as the points will be available at the time the reservation takes place. You don't have to have the points "in hand" to make the reservation.

Just wanted to make sure you knew that. I apologize if I'm explaining something you already knew but it is a common misunderstanding among DVC owners that think they can't book until they "get" the points at the beginning of a UY.

You took the words right out of my mouth, Granny! You book at the 11 month booking window for the dates you TRAVEL, not for the dates of your use year. Which dates get charged to which use year is determined by the dates you stay.

I'm so confused, LOL. I'm by no means an expert, but you can book the night of September 30th today if you want, the points will come out of whatever use year is appropriate, in your case 2006 as has been stated. My use year is August, so my 2007 use year points haven't officially been "alloted" but I've had a vacation for December booked since January. How in the world would you be able to on October 1 book a night for Sept 30th? LOL, I'm lost .

I often book trips on the cusp of my use year. It is two reservations, each using the appropriate points for the use year where that part of the trip falls. They are then linked in the system, so we don't have to move or check-out and check-in. It will show as a single reservation on your account page on the member site.

What I was referring to is that you make reservations by checkout day - which is important when making reservations at exactly 11 or 7 months out.

I can't book September 30th 2008 on October 30 2007 at my home resort, I need to wait until November 1st (as that is 11 months from my checkout date of Oct 1st).

Seeing as how you seem to book based on check out date, I was curious if points for the 'cusp' night came fron the use year you check in or the use year you check out.

AAAHHH, now I see! I was wondering if maybe you were speculating for reservations next year and meant something like that. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
