booking marriott's lakeshore reserve

So my parents have vacation club points and we just put in our request for may 2012. lakeshore reserve was our first choice, but it was already completely booked. if you have stayed here, how long in advance did you book? We ended up booking grand vista, which i think will be nice too... they said we can get on a wait list for lakeshore... but i figured if it is already booked it probably wont open... anyone have any experience they would like to share?

We're booked there for Nov this year. I booked the first week in March. We weren't sure if we were going or not this year but once we decided that we were I checked the II site a few times a week for a few weeks and was actually tying to get either GV or CH sat to sat but they only were showing fri to fri or sun to sun so I kept looking.

The day I looked and saw LSR with an opening I booked, didn't care about the check in day. This our first trip there, I hope it meets the hype.

It was available this morning on Interval International when I booked Grande Vista for the first or second week of October, don't remember which.

I'm curious to know why you say that availability will open up at that time?

We have tried several times, unsuccessfully, to get into Lakeshore Reserve. I realize the resort is still small, and heaven only knows when they'll start additional construction there.

I apologize to the OP because I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I'm curious about how inventory gets into the points system, and when?

I've been watching Marriott's forever... sometime shortly after the 4th of July I have been very successful at getting matched, the only place I've not been able to get a match was Marriott Ko'Olina. They seem to drop an enormous number of rooms all at once, now it's possible they will only drop them until the end of the year and you have to wait for the next bulk deposit, but like I said, the 4th of July timeframe has always led to success. Having said that I booked our unit August 1st when they put in a bulk deposit last year.
