by Heather Concannon, Public Relations Manager, Disney Signature Experiences
Get ready to experience the magic of Disney storytelling like never before at The Villas at Disneyland Hotel, opening at the Disneyland Resort this September.

The Villas at Disneyland Hotel will blend timeless Walt Disney Animation Studios classics with contemporary designs, delicately curating a celebration of Disney history in the place where it all started—the Disneyland Resort. This will be the fourth tower at the Disneyland Hotel, located just steps from the Downtown Disney District.

From the moment you catch a glimpse of the 12-story tower’s colorful façade, every space will immerse you in discovering the creative storytelling process, bringing some of your favorite Disney stories to life like never before in a variety of themed accommodations.

Villas are limited in availability, and restrictions apply. Subject to change or cancellation without notice.

Bookings will open to the public on March 17, 2023, subject to availability. You can make your reservation by contacting (714) 956-6425.

Do we think these will only be available for booking via phone on March 17 when the general public booking opens? Or do we expect we'll be able to book online?

Separate question: can a DVC member make a cash booking under a different name? As in, can I ask a friend who's a DVC member to book on my behalf on March 15?

Does anyone think it's odd that opening day has been announced and cash rooms will be available, but they haven't started selling points? Not interested in buying there, I just think it's curious.

Speculation is that they are working on getting enough certified guides to sell a CA property.

So, they may be working on legal hurdles but figured they’d start with some cash rooms because they never declare the whole resort at once so they will have plenty of rooms to offer to cash guests.

I think this is very odd. We can book next Wed for a stay at the end of Sept for a DVC property, but no one can book with points and they aren’t selling points. I’m sure they have their legal mumbo jumbo, but this seems sketchy. It’s as if they don’t sell points they don’t have to allow reservations with points. It‘s annoying.

So are they not even going to release the cash price of each room per night in advance of opening booking??

Members can't use points till there is inventory.
No inventory till resort can be purchased.
Cash first then later membership can be used.
rumor has it, there are several issues with ability to sell points in Cal.

Also once you see cash price, members will see the value of membership.

I find this so strange. Also weird to me how few people have been directly asking for this info.

I'm not sure why I'd bother to call only to find out the room cash cost is prohibitive and waste everyone's time.

You're definitely right. If we could know the prices, it would probably reduce whatever wait times there will likely be on the phones.

Anyone know specifically what time we can start calling in?

I imagine prices will be based on exactly when you want to stay, but it would be nice to see some sort of a price range listed as well as terms for changes/cancellations.

I just priced out some random dates for Oct/Nov/Dec at the DLH so that I can compare them to tomorrow's release of VDH prices. Should be interesting.

How would my usual guide, at WDW, be able to help with a CA sale? Referral?

I would generally expect pricing to follow Riviera rack rates, but since it's a brand new hotel, prices will probably be higher than usual for September/October.

When I called my Florida-based guide back in December to add on some points at BRV, he passed me over to a guide based at VGC (I'm a California resident). I drove over to the DLR and we did the deal in person.

Why would a CA-licensed broker need to be the selling agent on a FL listing? The buyer's place of residence is irrelevant.

Apparently according to California law, it is quite relevant. You must have a California license to sell to California residents within the state of California, no matter where the property is. I know there are a few other states where DVC can't see property, no matter what, but the buyers can travel to Florida to complete the purchase.

I added to my response. Apparently it is dependent upon where the transaction takes place, not where the property is located.
Why, as a CA resident, did you need to use a CA broker, when you were already working with a FL broker? And more importantly, how?

I've been a broker (licensed in IL) for almost 20 years, and have never heard about something like that. A broker has to be licensed in the state to sell property in that state; otherwise, they can collect a referral fee from the referring (i.e., out-of-state) broker.
