I just called to get pricing on our precruise hotel (Hyatt at the Orlando airport) through Disney. They told me that I had to call Costco and have them call Disney since we booked through Costco. I did this and when they were booking the hotel with Disney, I told them we needed a room with 2 beds rather than one king. They asked the DIsney rep about this and said that could not be selected at this point and I would have to request it at check in. We don't want to stay there if we end up in a room with one bed since we are a family of 4. Have you ever heard of not knowing what type of room you are booking until check in? Should I try to call Hyatt direct or will they refuse to talk to me since we booked the room through DIsney?

Yes...but I have never heard of a hotel putting 4 people in a room with 1 bed.

Yes we had the same answer when we booked the Hyatt with DCL and asked for an accessible room. Not guaranteed but they have it noted that we have an accessible
cabin. It won't be a deal breaker if we get a king standard, as long as we can fit the ECV in the room. We have stayed in a king standard before and fit the ECV in the room.
That is a stock answer, no guarantee. We are paying $225 for one night pre-cruise and it includes taxes. This was cheaper than the Hyatt website..

I have found the Hyatt very easy to talk to over the years. Though I have never booked through Costco or Disney for our pre night hotel, I have booked with Hyatt and called them a few times for different things before our arrival. It can't hurt to call them directly (not the central reservation number but the direct hotel number) and ask for 2 beds to be noted on your reservation.

The only way I can see them putting a family of 4 in a room with one king bed is if the room has a sleeper sofa. Maybe look to see if the rooms at that particular hotel have them in the photos. I would think it would be against code if they try to sleep 4 in a room with only a king because that would truly only be accommodations for 2 people.

And also, if you booked with Costco, Disney will not be able to make any changes to your reservation. (at least that is what I've always been told and we have booked rental cars, DCL, and DLR reservations through them.) Costco has always been super helpful though. :-)

Not quite the same, but when we booked a standard room for 4 at AKL (3 of which were adults/adult rate), we were "upgraded" to a Savannah room with 1 king bed and a sofa bed that barely fit a small child.

Let's just say that's about as fun as a cross country trip in a clown car. ;)

When you book a hotel via DCL, you can make a request for a certain room type, but it will be exactly that, a request. All you will be guaranteed is a standard room. When you arrive for check-in, reiterate your request, and they will accommodate you if possible. We booked the Hyatt via DCL, and the Hyatt's customer service was great. We asked for a runway room at check-in (my son wants to be a pilot when he grows up), and even though that is a higher rate category, they accommodated us for no extra charge. They will try. I look forward to staying there again- it's a nice hotel.
