I was thinking about splitting our stay next year and booking the free dining - probably 7 nights at one resort and ten at another. Probably will need to phone and book anyway as may need more than one room for part of the stay. Will probably get 14 or 21 night tickets. Does anyone know if they will let you split your stay & buy the one lot of tickets? Thanks.

i was told i would need seperate tickets for each hotel when i looked at doing it this year

Not sure but I think there is a problem booking the free dingin plan with a split stay (?) Becasue the free dining plan is linked to the package of room/park tickets.

Not sure if this has changed or anyone has managed a way round it?

I did this at the end of 2007 and although it may have changed now, it was a huge problem for us. We stayed 3 days CBR, 4 days POFQ and 7 days GF, our free dining was totally screwed up and it resulted in phonecalls back to the UK to try and get it sorted out. I was assured before I left by our travel agency that this was possible, but it definitely wasn't. In the end Disney sorted us for it, even though it wasn't their problem. It is most definitely linked to your room package.

As it's a split stay it's regarded as two separate bookings so to get free dining you need to purchase 2 lots of tickets, one for each room, that would work out pretty expensive thought.
