Hi everyone, I am getting ready to book our first DVC vacation and I have some questions. I call member services, twice, and I felt like I was getting the run around. I need some FRIENDLY advice from you all.

We are going to book a trip for June, 2004 for us and extended family. We need 2 2bedroom units and 1 1bedroom unit.

1. I get the impression it would be best if we put all the rooms in our names so that we can check in early for all of the rooms and get them assigned (hopefully close together). We don't care if we can't get into the room until later, but I don't want to loose out on having the rooms close because part of our clan couldn't check in until late. The woman at member services first told me I couldn't do this, but seemed to back away when I kept pushing. I told her we would put everything on our visa card. I don't understand what is the big deal. What is your experience?

2. Do we stand a better chance of getting our request to be close together and dedicated 2bedrooms if we check in on a certain day? We are flexible in this regard and I was thinking that if more rooms turn over and a certain day, it would be better to check in on that day?

3. Should I be calling day by day since we need so many rooms?

Thanks for all your help.

You do not indicate which DVC resort you will make a ressie. OKW has the largest # of 2 BR and they are either dedicated or lock-offs. Other resorts have either no dedicated 2 BR or just a few.

We have booked with DVC points at OKW 1 BR and 2 BR and asked to have them linked c;ose to each other due to family. We have never had a problem. They were either in the same building or the building next door.

they will try to fill your request - put them in the person's name that is staying in each villa. then have them linked to yours - then 3 to 5 days before you arrival fax the room controller and make sure he understands each room to be linked - tell him your reservation number for each villa as well as faxing the reservation confirmation with your request.

if you don't and your friends/family try to check in and you aren't there - they can't - the front desk only allows the person on the reservation to check in - believe me I have had a problem with this. they had my cell-phone - so they could contact me - I had to leave the parks and come check them in - you don't want this hassle - put your guest name on the reservation.

We always put the ressies in our name. At check-in, the names can be changed, and charged to the appropriate person.

We have reserved as many as four units, and were always in the same building.

Have you considered a 3-bedroom villa at OKW? Very large and private. Even the person(s) using the sofa bed has their own bathroom.
